Viamedia is a cable television and digital advertising company headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. Viamedia provides advertising sales management for cable TV operators, MVPD's, telcos, OTT/streaming and video providers across the US. Viamedia is one of the industry's leading providers of media advertising solutions for local, regional and national businesses and brands. Viamedia sells cross media advertising on behalf of U.S. cable and telecommunications service providers, utility companies and municipalities. [8] The company manages the sales, operational and technical functions for 60 cable companies across 71 designated market areas (DMAs) in over 30 states. Viamedia has more than 300 employees nationwide. [7]

History

Viamedia was founded in 2001 by Jeff Carter and Todd Donnelly. [9] In January 2011, Viamedia announced that it had partnered with Lake Capital, a private equity firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. [10] In December 2020, the company promoted former Chief Revenue Officer, David Solomon, to president and CEO. [11]

Since its founding, the company has been recognized with the Multichannel News' Innovator Award for its advancements in technology related to audience targeting and reporting, [12] been named a Top Operator by Cablefax [13] [14] and have received the Affiliate and Partnership Marketing award at the 2014 FAXIE Awards during its "Your Partner for Ad Sales" campaign. Placemedia

Placemedia offers an automated system for planning and purchasing television advertisements. The firm employs consumer data and its unique technology platform to autonomously execute media purchases aimed at specific audience groups.. [16] [17]

The company currently represents more than 30 billion impressions monthly in nearly 100 million households across 210 DMAs. [8]

In 2018, Altice USA purchased Placemedia from Viamedia. [18]

Placemedia's platform connects agencies and advertisers with television advertising inventory from Placemedia's partners, multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) and cable TV networks. [19] Using its application program interface (API), Placemedia's advertising platform has been integrated into demand side platform (DSP) partners’ preexisting systems. [20]

Services

Viamedia provides advertising solutions for more than 12,000 local, regional and national advertisers, including inserting advertising onto cable networks such as ESPN, TNT, FOX News, Lifetime, HGTV, A&E, Hallmark Channel and others.[ citation needed ] In addition, the company has a relationship with National Cable Communications, the national TV advertising sales, marketing and technology company owned in partnership by Comcast, Charter Communications, and Cox Communications. In 2016, former Viamedia CEO, Mark Lieberman, was inducted as a Cable Center Cable Pioneer. [22]

Viamedia executives have been named to the Cablefax Top 100;[ citation needed ] Cablefax Most Powerful Women in Cable; [23] Cynopsis Top Women in Digital; [24] Cablefax Most Powerful Women in Technology; [23] and Multichannel News’ "40 Under 40" list. [25]

After Altice acquired Cablevision Systems Corporation on November 30, 2016, Suddenlink was combined with Cablevision. Together with Optimum, the name used by Cablevision for its products, Altice USA became the United States' fourth largest cable operator with 4.6 million subscribers, and the sixth largest Pay TV service provider with 3.5 million subscribers. On August 1, 2022, Suddenlink rebranded into Optimum.

Visible World is a New York media and advertising technology company. Founded in 2000, it was the first provider of nationwide addressable TV advertising technology. Their programmatic TV platform is used for programmatic TV sales, including by their subsidiary AudienceXpress which was launched in 2013. In June 2015, Visible World was acquired by Comcast.

Multichannel television in the United States has been available since at least 1948. MobiTV, Inc. operated as a provider of live and on-demand video delivery solutions, with its headquarters located in Emeryville, California. Founded in 1999 by Paul Scanlan, Phillip Alvelda, and Jeff Annison, Mobi TV was a privately held company supported by venture capital. Charlie Nooney assumed the roles of CEO and Chairman of the company on October 15, 2007.

Myx is an American pay TV channel based in Daly City, California with an office also in Redwood City, California targeting a multicultural audience. As a sister network to Myx (Philippines), it launched in the United States in 2007. MyxRadio launched in November 2019 as a radio station on Dash Radio & as a global podcast on Spotify, iHeartRadio & Apple iTunes in March 2020. Over-the-top (OTT) media service is a media service offered directly to viewers via the Internet. OTT bypasses cable, broadcast, and satellite television platforms—the media through which companies have traditionally acted as controllers or distributors of such content. The term is most synonymous with subscription-based video on demand (SVoD) services that offer access to film and television content. Such content may include shows and movies for which the OTT acquired rights from the content owner. Programming may also include original content produced specifically for the service.
