Vidarbha Vikas Party (Vidarba Development Party), political party in the Indian state of Maharashtra. VVP works for the formation of a separate Vidarbha state in eastern Maharashtra.

The Painganga River is the chief river of the Buldhana district, Hingoli district, Nanded district, Yavatmal district, Chandrapur district and Washim district in the Maharashtra state in India and flows along the south east boundaries of the district in a winding, meandering course. Sunil Deshmukh Indian politician


Sunil Panjabrao Deshmukh is the Member of Legislative Assembly from the constituency of Amravati, Maharashtra, India. He is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. Earlier he belonged to the Indian National Congress (INC) which he quit in 2009 when he was denied a ticket to contest for Vidhansabha election from his Amravati constituency. He was also the Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Public Works and Energy in the cabinet of the Government of Maharashtra(2004-2009). He was also the guardian minister for Amravati and Bhandara Districts of Vidarbha, Maharashtra from 2004-2009. Additionally, he also served as the ex-officio Vice-Chairman of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board's holding company and as the co-chairman of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Ltd.

The Vidarbha Cricket Association is the governing body of the Cricket activities in the Vidarbha region in Maharashtra state of India and the Vidarbha cricket team. It is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

2009 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election

The 13th Assembly elections were held in Maharashtra, India on October 13, 2009. The ruling Democratic Front contested the elections against the alliance of Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Against the Third Front Known as Republican Left Democratic Front popularly known as RIDALOS.

Elections in Maharashtra, a state in India, are conducted in accordance with the Constitution of India. The Assembly of Maharashtra creates laws regarding the conduct of local body elections unilaterally while any changes by the state legislature to the conduct of state level elections need to be approved by the Parliament of India. The Vidarbha movement includes political activities organised by various individuals, organizations and political parties, for creation of an independent state of Vidarbha, within the republic of India. The proposed state corresponds to the eastern 11 districts of the state of Maharashtra. It makes up for 31% of area and 21% of population of the present state of Maharashtra.The area is covered by thick tropical forests and is surplus in electricity, minerals, rice and cotton.

Devendra Fadnavis Indian politician

Devendra Gangadharrao Fadnavis is an Indian politician who is the 18th and incumbent Chief Minister of Maharashtra, in office since October 2014. A member of Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, at the age of 44, he became the second youngest Chief Minister of Maharashtra after Sharad Pawar. Fadnavis represents the Nagpur South West constituency in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He is only the second CM of Maharashtra, after Vasantrao Naik to have completed his full tenure as Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

'Ranjeet Deshmukh, who has served as the agriculture minister in the Vilasrao Deshmukh cabinet between 1999-2004, had also held other portfolios. He had held the position as state unit president of the party on two occasions was the president of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC). He was first elected to the MLA in 1985 from the Savner constituency.

The Vidarbha women's cricket team is an Indian domestic cricket team representing the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The team has represented the state in Senior women’s one day league and Senior women's T20 league.
