Vidhya Venkatesh is an Indian actress, who has appeared in Tamil and Kannada language films. After making her debut with Kamal Haasan in the Tamil film Panchathanthiram (2002), she won critical acclaim for her performances in Kannada movies like Chigurida Kanasu (2003) and Nenapirali (2005). Her performance in Nenapirali won her Best Actress Award at 53rd Filmfare Awards South. [2]
Vidhya Venkatesh did a degree a BA Literature at Ethiraj College, Chennai before beginning work as a part of the Sheraton Hotels and Resorts franchise. She then spent two and a half years working as an air hostess for Singapore Airlines, flying predominantly between Singapore and Russia. [3] Vidhya was interested in acting in films and approached K. S. Ravikumar for a role in the Kamal Haasan-starrer Panchathanthiram (2002), and was able to successfully audition for the role of Sriman's Telugu wife in the film. She then appeared in the low-budget film Kalatpadai (2003) alongside several newcomers and won positive reviews for her portrayal, with a reviewer noting that she is "excellent in her role" and that "she comes into her own as the movie proceeds". [4] [5] Her modelling co-ordinator subsequently put her pictures through to Kannada director Nagabharana and she next appeared in Chigurida Kanasu (2003). She followed it up with a critically acclaimed performance in Nenapirali (2005), for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Kannada Actress. [6]

Panchatanthiram is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language black comedy film directed by K. S. Ravikumar and written with Kamal Haasan, with the dialogues by Crazy Mohan. The film stars Haasan, Jayaram, Ramesh Aravind, Sriman, Yugi Sethu, Simran and Ramya Krishnan, with Urvashi, Aishwarya, Sanghavi, Vidhya Venkatesh, Devayani and Nagesh in supporting roles. It loosely adapts from the 1998 film Very Bad Things with new elements added to it.
Kalpana, born Sharat Lata, was an Indian actress who appeared in Kannada films. She was affectionately referred to as Minugu Taare among the film fraternity. Chigurida Kanasu is a 2003 Indian Kannada-language film directed by T. S. Nagabharana and starring Shiva Rajkumar, Anant Nag, Vidhya Venkatesh, Rekha Unnikrishnan and Avinash. It is based on the 1951 novel of the same name by legendary Kannada litterateur and Jnanpith Award winner K. Shivaram Karanth. The movie was considered one of finest movies in the history of Kannada cinema. It is a milestone movie in the career of Shiva Rajkumar. Jayant Kaikini debuted as a lyricist, with his first song Bandhuve sung by the legendary Dr. Rajkumar. Kaikini would go on to become a very successful and popular lyricist in the Kannada film industry. The story and characterisation of the lead role - an urban youth in search of his roots giving up his city life and deciding to stay back in a remote village and setting up a micro hydroelectric project to generate electricity for the benefit of the villagers - went on to be used in the 2004 Hindi movie Swades.
