Vidyadhar Kagita is an Indian film writer and director from Telugu film industry who made his debut with Vishwak Sen starrer Gaami (2024). [2]

Early life

Vidyadhar was born in Bhimavaram, his father Kagita Srinivas Rao was an educator in the private sector, and his mother Kagita Padma, was a homemaker. Vidyadhar pursued his early education at St. Marks High School, Secunderabad, and Sri Kakatiya Merit School, Bhimavaram before he moved to Hyderabad and went to pursue Mechanical engineering at Malla Reddy Engineering College and graduated in 2014. [3]

Career

Vidyadhar started making short films at age 17 and has made number of student short films. And after graduation he went to work as editor for wedding films in Hyderabad, where he would meet Vishwanath Chelumala, who eventually collaborated again on Gaami . In 2013, Vidyadhar started his first Sci-fi short film titled Zero [4] where he collaborates with Sunil Raju who would eventually work on Gaami as well.

In 2017, after finishing work on his short film Vaitharani and Vara with Karthik Sabareesh as producer, before the duo commenced work on Gaami which would first be announced in 2018. [5] [6] the film was initially thought to be a crowd-funded film. [7] In an interview with The Hindu , Vidyadhar said “As I worked on the script, I realised the importance of catering to a larger audience. I wanted to do something new within the format of mainstream cinema.” He roped in his friend Pratyush Vatyam to write the dialogues and “since his contribution was much more, I decided to share the writing credits with him”. [3] The film was noted for its different concept. [8]

Naan Aval Adhu is an unreleased Indian Tamil-language horror film directed by Kona Venkat.
