Karthik Sabareesh is an Indian producer and actor known for his work in Telugu cinema. He started his career as a Creative director before he started producing films. Manu and Story Discussion are among his notable works as a producer and actor, respectively. Gaami marked his third collaboration with director Vidyadhar Kagita, which was released on 8 March 2024. Early life

Karthik Sabareesh was born and raised in Nellore into the family of civil contractor P. Suresh Kumar Reddy, and Prasanna Reddy a homemaker. He finished his schooling in Nellore and Guntur, and dropped out of his bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering. He started working with his father at a construction site and did a few other jobs in Rajahmundry.

Career

After quitting his job in construction, he moved to Hyderabad in 2014 looking for jobs, whilst looking for a way into the Telugu film industry. He got in touch with Runway Reels (Tamada Media) as a short film maker. However, he was offered a job as creative director. He then lead the short film acquisition department as a Curator at Tamada from 2014-2018.

In 2015, Vidyadhar Kagita, looking for a partner for the screening of his first short film, Vaitharini, met Karthik and this was his first credit as a producer. He also took on the role of production designer on Happy Ending that year. In 2016, while leading his role at Tamada, Karthik and Vidhyadhar started pre-production on their next short film, Vara, which would be a crowd-funded project, eventually releasing in 2017. [3]

In 2017, Karthik made his debut as an actor with Rohit & Sasi's Story Discussion , in which he played the character of producer Mani Kishore. Post that, he began working on his third collaboration with Vidhyadhar, a feature film titled Gaami ; it was officially announced in July 2018. [4] [5] [6]

In 2018, his career took a significant turn with his involvement in crowdfunding. [1] campaign for the film Gaami. [7] [8] Serving as a producer, he played a pivotal role in garnering financial support for the project, which eventually led to the commencement of principal photography later that year. That same year, he also work as a line producer on Manu .

In 2019, he produced a series for MX Player, titled Beyond Breakup, whilst also appearing as a recurring cast member on season 2 of Story Discussion as Mani Kishore and was also credited as an associate producer. [9] [10]

Gaami

During 2019 and 2020, the production of Gaami entered its intensive phase, facing challenges due to logistical constraints and unforeseen events like the India-Pakistan border skirmishes and the COVID-19 pandemic. Karthik Sabareesh remained dedicated to the project, overseeing various aspects of production to ensure its successful completion.

In the post-production phase, Karthik focused on editing, sound production, and visual effects supervision for "Gaami." Collaborating with talented professionals, he worked diligently to bring the director's vision to life.

The culmination of Karthik's efforts came in 2024 as "Gaami" prepared for its worldwide release. [11] The film was given an "A" [12] certificate and released on March 8, 2024 theatrically. [13] In an interview with 123telugu Karthik said "For newcomers like us, releasing the film after completing it is a great deal. We are pumped up with the massive response for Gaami." [14] and asserted to make more such films. Post release of Gaami, while promoting the film Karthik mentioned that he's an executive producer on Chiranjeevi's upcoming film Vishwambhara. [15]
