Vijay Krishna Acharya is an Indian film director, screenwriter, dialogue writer known for his works in Hindi films and television shows.

Career

He began his career as a scriptwriter after his work on the film Dhoom franchise . [1] His directorial debut was the film Tashan which opened to negative reviews. Though his second attempt at film directing Dhoom 3 which was the third installment of the Dhoom franchise, went on to gross 4 billion (US$50 million) worldwide in just ten days, to become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in international markets at the time and as of September 2020, it is the twelfth highest-grossing Indian film of all time. [2] [3] [4] It was the 78th highest-grossing film of 2013 worldwide. [5] [6] The film was screened during the 2014 International Film Festival of India in the Celebrating Dance in Indian cinema section. [7] The film won the Telstra People's Choice Award at the 2014 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. [8] [9]

His first independent spoof was Channel Mast on VI TV, by the late director Sudhanshu Mishra. His other spoofs include Ramkhilavan CM and Family, Public Hai Sab Jaanti Hai and Krishna Sharma CA, which later gave shape to Krishna Arjun. [10] He has written scripts for and directed Hindi shows including Just Mohabbat , Life Nahin Hai Laddoo, Son Pari , Shaka Laka Boom Boom and Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin .

Dhoom 2 was shot primarily in India, Durban and Rio de Janeiro, becoming the first major Hindi film to be shot in Brazil. It is a sequel to the 2004 film Dhoom and is the second installment in the Dhoom series. Bachchan and Chopra reprise their roles as buddy cops Jai Dixit and Ali Khan, respectively. Yash Raj Films also collaborated with Pepe Jeans and Coca-Cola for the film's promotional tie-ups.

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) is an annual festival based in Melbourne founded in 2010. It was previously funded by Victoria State Government. It is presented by Film Victoria, and the provider is chosen through a tender process. The current tender provider is Mind Blowing Films, run by Mitu Bhowmick Lange who is the Festival Director of IFFM. The festival has currently been provided with State Government funding until 2018. The goal of the film festival is to showcase Indian cinema to the Australian audience. The festival has streamed Bollywood films, Indie movies, documentaries, regional cinema from India etc. It also organizes short film competitions, dance competitions and a flag hoisting ceremony since it is during the time of Indian Independence day celebrations in Melbourne.

The term Khans of Bollywood refers to several actors of Bollywood, the Mumbai-based Hindi language Indian film industry, whose surnames are Khan. Most commonly, this involves the Three Khans: Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. The three are unrelated, but happen to share the same surname, and were all born in 1965. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Ronit Roy, and Lloyd Owen. Set during the period of Company rule in India, the film follows a small-time thug from Awadh, Firangi Mallah, who is sent by an East India Company official to infiltrate and counter a band of thugs.
