Vik is a village in Grimstad municipality in Aust-Agder county, Norway. The village is located at the northern end of the Kilen bay that flows past the town of Grimstad. The village sits at the junction of Norwegian County Road 420 and Norwegian County Road 407 on the south side of the European route E18 highway. The village was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Fjære. The historic Fjære Church lies about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) west of the village.

Fjære Former Municipality in Southern Norway, Norway

Fjære is a former municipality in Aust-Agder county, Norway. The 60.4-square-kilometre (23.3 sq mi) municipality existed from 1846 until 1971. It was located to the north of the town of Grimstad. The name is still used to refer to that area, which is now a part of Grimstad municipality. The administrative centre of Fjære was the village of Vik, just east of the historic Fjære Church. Other villages in Fjære included Fevik, Dømmesmoen, Frivold, Kroken, and Rønnes.

Landvik Former Municipality in Southern Norway, Norway

Landvik is a former municipality in Aust-Agder county, Norway. The 190.7-square-kilometre (73.6 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1971. The municipality's area is now located in the western and central part of the present-day municipality of Grimstad. The administrative centre was the village of Roresanden, just up the hill from the Landvik Church. Other villages in Landvik include Molland, Reddal, Skiftenes, Tjore, and Østerhus. Øyestad is a former municipality in Aust-Agder county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until 1992 when it was merged into the present-day municipality of Arendal. At the time of its dissolution, the 96-square-kilometre (37 sq mi) municipality of Øyestad encompassed most of the coastline between the towns of Grimstad and Arendal, along with the forested areas along the Nidelva river heading inland. Back in 1838, however, the municipality was far larger in size. The administrative centre was the village of Bjorbekk near the Bjorbekk Church.

The shield is blue (PMS299) and the motive is a gold brig sailing towards the heraldic right on three gold waves. The particular sails the ship is carrying is also specified. The four towers symbolise the four former municipalities joined to form the present Grimstad municipality: Grimstad, Eide, Landvik and Fjære.

Norwegian county road 407 is a Norwegian county road in Aust-Agder county, Norway. The 13.9-kilometre (8.6 mi) highway runs between the village of Vik in Grimstad municipality and Sponvika on the south side of the city of Arendal in Arendal municipality. Prior to the transportation reforms of 2010, this road was a Norwegian national road, but since then it was taken over by the county.

The 27.83-kilometre (17.29 mi) long road runs between the village of Frivoll in Grimstad municipality in the southeast and the village of Søre Herefoss in Birkenes municipality at the south end of the Herefossfjorden. The road connects to the Norwegian National Road 41 at Søre Herefoss and it connects to the European route E18 highway at Frivoll. The road passes between the two lakes Syndle and Rore in rural Grimstad, just northeast of the village of Roresand. Prior to a 2010 government reform, the road was classified as a Norwegian national road.

The church is part of the Fjære parish in the Vest-Nedenes deanery in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, concrete and wood church was built in 1976. It seats about 100 people. Originally, the church was a prayer house run by various associations. In 2005, it was taken over by the Fjære parish of the Church of Norway.
