Villaricos is a coastal district located in Cuevas del Almanzora, Spain. [1] [2] On 5 April 1863 the barque Candahar was driven ashore at Villaricos and broke in two. [3] [4] By 2018 it has 626 inhabitants, 335 men and 291 women. [5]

Baria, an ancient Punic and later (since 209 BC) Roman city, was found in Villaricos. [6]

Vera is a municipality of Almería province, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Today Vera is one of the most important commercial centres in the region, with a thriving traditional core and a number of supermarkets and commercial organisations spread along the ring road. Vera itself lies approximately 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) inland from the coast, but the municipality extends to the sea shore. There, a tourist settlement, named Vera Playa, has been developed. Urci was an ancient settlement in southeastern Roman Hispania mentioned by Pomponius Mela, Pliny the Elder, and Claudius Ptolemy. The writings of these historians indicate that the city was located in the hinterland of what is now Villaricos, Spain, in the lower basin of the Almanzora River. Some modern encyclopedias and historians have wrongly located Urci at Pechina, El Chuche or the City of Almería.

Levante Almeriense is a Spanish comarca located in the oriental side of the province of Almeria, and it has thirteen municipios such as Cuevas del Almanzora, Sorbas, Turre, Mojácar, Carboneras and Vera. It was occupied since the Bronze Age, with severals archeological sites like El Argar, marqués de los Vélez castle, karst en yesos de Sorbas, etc.
