Vincent Ho is a Canadian composer. Both his Arctic Symphony and The Shaman: Concerto for Percussion & Orchestra were nominated for Juno Awards.
Ho was born in Ottawa, Ontario, [1] and grew up in Calgary, Alberta. [2] He studied at The Royal Conservatory of Music, [3] and later at the University of Calgary, graduating with a bachelor's degree in composition. [4] He earned a Master of Music Degree (M.Mus.) from the University of Toronto, then later earned his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in composition from the University of Southern California. [2]
Ho joined the teaching staff of the University of Calgary. [1] In 2004, his first orchestral work Dragon Realms was presented by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra during their annual New Music Festival. In 2006, his cello work Stigmata was awarded the Canadian Music Centre's Young Composer Award and featured at the same New Music Festival in Winnipeg that year (performed by cellist Caroline Stinson). In 2007 Ho was named composer-in-residence for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, with duties which included organizing the festival. [5] [2]

In 2017 Ho brought together a group of Canadian composers to create True North: Symphonic Ballet , commissioned by the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday. [8]
Ho composed Arctic Symphony, which was performed at the True North Festival in Calgary. [4] The work was nominated for a Juno Award in 2019. [9]

The Manitoba Chamber Orchestra (MCO) is a chamber orchestra based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Timothy Wesley John Brady is a Canadian composer, electric guitarist, improvising musician, concert producer, record producer and cultural activist. Working in the field of contemporary classical music, experimental music, and musique actuelle, his compositions utilize a variety of styles from serialism to minimalism and often incorporate modern instruments such as electric guitars and other electroacoustic instruments. His music is marked by a synthesis of musical languages, having developed an ability to use elements of many musical styles while retaining a strong sense of personal expression. Jeffrey Ryan is a Canadian composer based in Vancouver, British Columbia. His compositional style ranges from opera, art song, and choral music to chamber ensemble and orchestral works. Ryan has been commissioned by the Cleveland Orchestra, the Windsor Symphony, Esprit Orchestra, Tapestry New Opera Works, the Arditti Quartet, and Elektra Women's Choir.
