Vinil Virtual is the tenth studio album by the Brazilian singer-songwriter Daniela Mercury. It was released on November 27, 2015, by the label Biscoito Fino. [1] [2]
Vinil Virtual was produced by Mercury and Yacoce Simões. All the fifteen tracks were written by her, ten of these tracks were written by herself. Two songs were written with Marcelo Quintanilha, two with here son Gabriel Póvoas and one with Simões. "The songwriters who send me some songs did not translate what I wanted to say at that moment". [3]
Mercury turned two poems written to her wife into songs: "Maria Casaria" and "Sem Argumento". "América do Amor" talks about the Latin American brotherhood, as "Antropofágicos São Paulistanos" celebrates the mix of cultures of the city of São Paulo, "O Riso de Deus" talks with the funk of Rio's proms, as praises the city of Rio de Janeiro. "Senhora do Terreiro (Mãe Carmem)" is about the iyalorixá (priestess) Carmem Oliveira da Silva, daughter and successor of the iyalorixá known as Mãe Menininha do Gantois. "De Deus, de Alah, de Gilberto Gil" is a tribute to the Brazilian singer, songwriter and musician Gilberto Gil, which makes a participation on the track. "Alegria e Lamento" it's a mix of Márcio Victor's percussion with takes of an old record of the already dead Neguinho do Samba, one of the founders of the Olodum. Mercury wrote a song in English with her son Gabriel Póvoas, called "Frogs in the Sky". [3]
The cover artwork for Vinil Virtual was revealed for the Rolling Stone Brasil magazine on November 16, 2015. It shows Mercury lying, naked, next to her wife Malu Verçosa, been inspired by the musician couple John Lennon and Yoko Ono, that were on the cover of the No. 335 edition of the American Rolling Stone magazine in January 1981. Mercury said:
"For those who tell to hide myself, I show myself naked. I'm not ashamed to love. I would be ashamed to hate. [...] I was invited too many time to pose naked for the Playboy and I never wanted. Now, I use my body, my nude, to make a pacific and political maniphesto on the war against homophobia. The purpose is not to shock". The singer also said that the purpose of the album cover were to "stand up in a beautiful way. It's to use my image like a expression of my life, my art, my love. Love is the great element of transformation. I did a beautiful cover that represents a feminist maniphesto in a time that all the women still needs to stand up for themselves. Through this cover, I'm connected with John and Yoko and their maniphestos of love and peace, against any type of violence. It is up to us, artists, to be the peacemakers, breaking the barriers and prejudices". [4]

John Winston Ono Lennon was an English singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist who achieved worldwide fame as founder, co-songwriter, co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. Lennon's work was characterised by the rebellious nature and acerbic wit of his music, writing and drawings, on film, and in interviews. His songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney remains the most successful in history.

John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band is the debut solo album by English musician John Lennon. Backed by the Plastic Ono Band, it was released by Apple Records on 11 December 1970 in tandem with the similarly titled album by his wife, Yoko Ono. At the time of its issue, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band received mixed reviews overall, but later came to be widely regarded as Lennon's best solo album.
Sean Taro Ono Lennon is an American–British musician, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and half-brother to Julian Lennon. Over the course of his career, he has been a member of the bands Cibo Matto, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, The Claypool Lennon Delirium and his parents' group Plastic Ono Band. He has released two solo albums: Into the Sun (1998) and Friendly Fire (2006). He has produced numerous albums for various artists, including Black Lips and the Plastic Ono Band.

Co-produced by Lennon, his wife Yoko Ono and Phil Spector, the album's lush sound contrasts the basic, small-group arrangements of his first album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (1970), while the opening title track is widely considered to be his signature song.
Rock 'n' Roll is the sixth studio album by English musician John Lennon. Released in February 1975, it is an album of late 1950s and early 1960s songs as covered by Lennon. Recording the album was problematic and spanned an entire year: Phil Spector produced sessions in October 1973 at A&M Studios, and Lennon produced sessions in October 1974 at the Record Plant (East). Lennon was being sued by Morris Levy over copyright infringement of one line in his song "Come Together". As part of an agreement, Lennon had to include three Levy-owned songs on Rock 'n' Roll. Spector disappeared with the session recordings and was subsequently involved in a motor accident, leaving the album's tracks unrecoverable until the beginning of the Walls and Bridges sessions. With Walls and Bridges coming out first, featuring one Levy-owned song, Levy sued Lennon expecting to see Lennon's Rock 'n' Roll album.
Double Fantasy is the fifth album by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and the final one to feature Lennon before his death. Released in November 1980 on Geffen Records, the album marked Lennon's return to recording music full-time, following his five-year hiatus to raise his son Sean. Recording sessions took place at the Hit Factory in New York City between August and October 1980. The final album features songs from both Lennon and Ono, largely alternating between the two in its track listing. Other tracks recorded by Lennon from the sessions were compiled by Ono for release on Milk and Honey in 1984.

Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins is the first of three experimental albums released by John Lennon and Yoko Ono on Apple Records. It was the result of an all-night session of musical experimentation with Yoko in John's home studio at Kenwood, while his wife, Cynthia Lennon, was on holiday in Greece. Lennon and Ono's 1968 debut recording is known not only for its avant-garde content, but also for its cover, which features the couple naked. This made the album controversial to both the public and the parent record company EMI, which refused to distribute it. In an attempt to avoid controversy, the LP record was sold in a brown paper bag, and distributed by Track and Tetragrammaton in the United Kingdom and the United States respectively. Two Virgins, while failing to chart in the UK, reached number 124 in the US. The album was followed six months later by Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with the Lions.
Milk and Honey is the sixth and final album by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, released in 1984, four years after Lennon’s murder. It is Lennon's eighth and final album, and the first posthumous release of new Lennon music, having been recorded in the last months of his life during and following the sessions for his 1980 album Double Fantasy. It was assembled by Yoko Ono in association with the Geffen label.
"Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1968 double album The Beatles. It was written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney. The lyrics contain sayings the Beatles heard from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, with whom they studied Transcendental Meditation in India in early 1968. In his subsequent comments on the song, Lennon said it addressed his bandmates' initial reaction to his relationship with Yoko Ono. Recorded early in the sessions for the White Album, the track typifies Lennon and the Beatles' return to a rock sound in 1968 after their psychedelic period.
"In My Life" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles. It appeared on their 1965 album Rubber Soul. Its lyrics were written primarily by John Lennon, credited to Lennon–McCartney. George Martin contributed the piano solo bridge.

The 30th Annual John Lennon Tribute: Live from the Beacon Theatre, NYC is a compilation tribute album to John Lennon by various artists, released in November 2011. Proceeds from the album benefit the Japanese Red Cross. Not all songs from the concert are included here, such as Cyndi Lauper's covers of "Across the Universe" and "A Day in the Life".
