He won the Best Director award at the 13th Kerala State Film Awards for his 1983 film Ente Mamattukkuttiyammakku.
Kannum Karalum is a 1962 Indian Malayalam-language film directed by K. S. Sethumadhavan, produced by A. K. Balasubramaniam under the banner of Saravanabhava Pictures. The film stars Sathyan, Ambika Sukumaran and Kamal Haasan, while Sukumari and debutant Vinodini play supporting roles. It was about a child Babu writing letters to his mother who he thought was in heaven.
Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair was an Indian poet, playwright, script writer, lyricist, orator, film director and actor, though he is best known as an actor in Malayalam cinema. He is the recipient of Padma Shri from the Government of India, which is one of the highest civilian honours in India. In a career that spanned about 47 years, he acted in over 700 films. He is considered to be the "First Superstar in Mollywood". In 1993, he was honoured with the J. C. Daniel Award, Kerala government's highest honour for contributions to Malayalam cinema.

Guru Chandrasekharan (1916–1998) was an Indian classical dancer, choreographer and instructor of Kathakali. He was born in Trivandrum, India in 1916. His father was N.K. Nair, an artist and notable oil painter. Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra (SBKK) is an Indian cultural institution which runs a noted school for music, dance and performing arts in New Delhi. Sree Guruvayoorappan is a 1972 Indian Malayalam film, directed and produced by P. Subramaniam. Kamaladalam is a 1992 Indian Malayalam-language musical drama film written by A. K. Lohithadas and directed by Sibi Malayil, starring Mohanlal, Murali, Vineeth, Nedumudi Venu, Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair, Monisha, Parvathy Jayaram and Sukumari. The film was produced by Mohanlal through his company Pranavam Arts. The film features original songs composed by Raveendran and a background score by Johnson. This movie was inspired from Telugu classic Sagara Sangamam directed by K Viswanath with Kamal Haasan in lead role.

Guru Gopinath Nadana Gramam is located in a place called Vattiyoorkavu in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. The center was established in 1995 to impart training to young folks in different art forms such as Kerala Nadanam, classical music, light music. The institution is offering training for music enthusiasts in musical instruments such as tabla and veena as well. The institute is owned by the Department of Culture, Government of Kerala. The Nadana Gramam was instituted in the name of a great artist by the name Guru Gopinath who has shown to the world that the dance forms such as Kathakali can be enacted on the stage with the stories from the day-to-day life, apart from the stories from Hindu Mythology.

He is the son of popular malayalam lyricist and musician Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri.He is also the Grandson of Unnikrishnan Namboothiri who is a noted actor in Malayalam movies.
