Virginia Marie Regina "Ginny" Newman Littell is an American Republican Party politician who served as the chairman of the New Jersey Republican State Committee from 1992 until 1995. Her husband Robert Littell served in the New Jersey Legislature for nearly 40 years, and her daughter Alison Littell McHose was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 2003 to 2015.

Virginia Newman was born on December 8, 1943 [1] and was raised in Scituate, Massachusetts. [2] She married Robert Littell on November 28, 1964, and they settled in Newton, New Jersey. They had two children, Alison Elizabeth Littell (born May 24, 1965) and Luke Alfred Littell (born January 26, 1974). [1]

Newton, officially the Town of Newton, is an incorporated municipality located in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. It is situated approximately 60 miles (97 km) by road northwest of New York City. It is one of fifteen municipalities in the state organized as a town, and the municipal government operates under a council-manager structure provided by the Faulkner Act, or Optional Municipal Charter Law. As the location of the county's administrative offices and court system, Newton is the county seat of Sussex County.
While her husband pursued a legislative career, elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in 1968, Virginia Littell became active in the local Republican Party organization, running for the Sussex County Republican Committee. She continued to work at Littell's TV and Appliances, the family business in Sparta, New Jersey, while becoming more involved in party politics. She was selected as a member of the New Jersey Republican State Committee, eventually becoming party treasurer. In October 1992 the State Committee chose her to replace Bob Franks as chairman after Franks resigned to run for a seat in the House of Representatives. [3]

Sussex County is the northernmost county in the State of New Jersey. Its county seat is Newton. It is part of the New York Metropolitan Area and is part of the state's Skylands Region, a term promoted by the New Jersey Commerce, Economic Growth, & Tourism Commission to encourage tourism. As of the 2017 Census estimate, the county's population was 141,682, making it the 17th-most populous of the state's 21 counties, a 5.1% decrease from the 149,265 enumerated in the 2010 United States Census, in turn an increase of 5,099 (3.5%) over the 144,166 persons enumerated in the 2000 Census. Based on 2010 Census data, Vernon Township was the county's largest in both population and area, with a population of 23,943 and covering an area of 70.59 square miles (182.8 km2).
The New Jersey Republican State Committee (NJGOP) is the affiliate of the Republican Party in New Jersey. The Committee was founded in 1880. The party is currently led by Doug Steinhardt, who replaced Michael B. Lavery. Lavery replaced Sam Raia of Saddle River, New Jersey.
Littell's tenure ended in June 1995 when Governor Christine Todd Whitman made it known that Chuck Haytaian was her choice for chairman of the State Committee. Rather than face a contentious fight for the post, Littell stepped down, allowing Haytaian to run unchallenged. [3] [4]
Christine Todd Whitman is an American Republican politician and author who served as the 50th Governor of New Jersey, from 1994 to 2001, and was the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency in the administration of President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2003. She was New Jersey's first and, to date, only female governor. She was the second woman and first Republican woman to defeat an incumbent governor in a general election in the United States. She was also the first Republican woman to be reelected governor.
Garabed "Chuck" Haytaian is an American Republican Party politician, who was the Speaker of the New Jersey State Assembly during the 'tax revolt' of the James Florio – Christine Todd Whitman era. He is of Armenian descent.
Littell has since worked as a business consultant, partnering in the firm of Brazer & Littell with Georgene Brazer, Republican municipal chairwoman of Tewksbury Township, New Jersey. In 2002, Intrawest Corporation, a client of Brazer & Littell, worked out a deal with the state of New Jersey to preserve land on Hamburg Mountain in Vernon Township, New Jersey near the Intrawest ski resort of Mountain Creek. The deal was brokered by Robert Littell, then chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, but the Littells denied any conflict of interest in the arrangement. [5]
Tewksbury Township is a township located in Hunterdon County, New Jersey and is located within the New York Metropolitan Area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 5,993, reflecting an increase of 452 (+8.2%) from the 5,541 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 738 (+15.4%) from the 4,803 counted in the 1990 Census.
Intrawest Resorts Holdings, Inc was a developer and operator of destination resorts and a luxury adventure travel company. The company was founded in 1976 as a privately funded real estate development company. In 2006, Intrawest was purchased by Fortress Investment Group, a private equity investment company, which resulted in the company being delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange. Fortress was under financial pressure related to the Intrawest debt, but a new loan with a single lender was completed in April 2010 and all prior lenders were repaid in full.
Vernon Township is a township in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. It is located about one hour's drive from New York City and is part of the New York Metropolitan Area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 23,943, reflecting a decline of 743 (-3.0%) from the 24,686 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 3,475 (+16.4%) from the 21,211 counted in the 1990 Census. It is both the most populous municipality and the largest in area in the county.
