Vision d'Etat (foaled April 20, 2005 in Maine-et-Loire, died in March 25, 2018) [2] was a French Thoroughbred racehorse.

Background

Vision d'Erat was sired by Group One winner Chichicastenango and out of the mare Uberaba, he was bought for €39,000 by Jacques Detre and trainer Eric Libaud's wife, Vicky.

Racing career

At age two, Vision d'Etat won the Prix le Pompier at the Les Sables-d'Olonne racecourse and the Prix de la Malmontagne at the Fontainebleau racecourse. At age three, he won the Prix Alcantara II at Saint-Cloud Racecourse, and at Chantilly Racecourse, both the Prix de Suresnes and the prestigious French Classic, the Prix du Jockey Club. His last outing in mid September was at Longchamp Racecourse where he won the Prix Niel. Undefeated in his first six starts, on October 5, 2008 Vision d'Etat finished fifth in France's most prestigious race, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Vision d'Etat began his 2009 campaign in early April with a third-place finish in the Prix d'Harcourt. On April 26 he won the Group One, Prix Ganay. On 17 June 2009, he won the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, the horse came up the inside from last place to the land the 1m 2f race. [3] A second placing in the Prix Foy and a defeat in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe followed, before he dropped back to his favoured 2000 metre distance when winning the Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin. [4]

Vision d'Etat started his 2010 campaign with a 12th placing in the Dubai World Cup. He returned to win a Group 3 in August, before ending his career with a second placing in the Champion Stakes and a fourth in the Hong Kong Cup.

Since 2011, Vision d'Etat stood stud at Haras de Grandcamp until his death in 2018. [2]

Ardross was an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Racing at age three, he got his first significant win in the Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh. Caracalla was a French racehorse and sire. Unraced as a two-year-old and never competing at a distance shorter than 2,400 metres he was undefeated in eight races in a racing career which lasted from the spring of 1945 until October 1946. Caracalla excelled over extended distances, winning the Grand Prix de Paris and the Prix Royal Oak in France and the Ascot Gold Cup in Britain. On his final appearance he proved himself capable of beating top class opposition at middle distances when he won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He remained in training as a four-year-old, winning the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and Prix Foy. He was then retired to stud and had some success as a sire of winners in Australia and New Zealand.

Anabaa Blue is a British-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He was sired by the sprinter Anabaa out of Allez Les Trois, a mare with a very strong middle-distance pedigree. Between September 2000 and October 2002 he ran fourteen times and won four races. After showing moderate ability in two races as a juvenile he showed marked improvement in the following spring. After winning a minor stakes race on his debut, he won the Prix Noailles, finished a close second in the Prix Lupin and then recorded his most significant victory in the Prix du Jockey Club. He was beaten in his three remaining races as a three-year-old, but returned in the following year to win the Grand Prix de Chantilly and finish second in the Prix Foy. He was retired to stud at the end of his four-year-old season and has had some success as a sire of winners.

Strategic Choice was an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and stallion. In a racing career which lasted from April 1994 until July 2000 he competed in nine different countries – Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Turkey, Canada and Hong Kong – and won six of his thirty-four races. Unraced as a two-year-old he won the John Porter Stakes and Irish St. Leger at four, the Gran Premio di Milano and Grand Prix de Deauville at five and the Bosphorus Trophy at six. He was also placed in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Gran Premio del Jockey Club, Yorkshire Cup and St Simon Stakes. Oscar Schindler was an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and stallion best known for being the second horse to win two runnings of the Irish St. Leger. In a racing career which lasted from October 1994 until November 1997 he competed in five different countries and won five of his twenty starts.
