Voiceprint Records was a British independent record label based in England, founded in November 1990 by Rob Ayling. [1] [2] They specialised in re-releasing old material, especially progressive rock, but also had new releases, under the Resurgence and Blueprint labels. [2]

Contents

The holding company, Zeit Distribution Ltd., went into insolvency in 2010. [3] It was replaced by the phoenix company, Gonzo Multimedia in 2010. The new company has a broader remit, and releases a much wider range of music. [4]

Labels

Voiceprint operated a number of record labels, [5] including some for a single band or set of related artists. Major Voiceprint labels include Blueprint, [6] All Saints , Jazzprint, and Resurgence.

Artists

The first release on Voiceprint was a Daevid Allen album, The Australian Years. [1] Among the many other artists whose recordings have been released by the company are Tim Blake, Leonard Cohen, [7] The Fall (whose Cog Sinister label was acquired by Voiceprint in 1997), [8] Fish, [1] Gong, [9] Hawkwind, [9] Steve Hillage, [9] Patrick Moraz, [10] Anthony Phillips, [11] Theo Travis, Rick Wakeman, [9] Gordon Haskell , [9] and Yes. [9]

The company also released classical music and related documentaries. [12]

Bob Livingston is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, bass player, and a founding member of The Lost Gonzo Band. Leonard Cohen was a Canadian singer-songwriter and poet who was active in music from 1967 until his death in 2016. Cohen released 14 studio albums and eight live albums during the course of a recording career lasting almost 50 years, throughout which he remained an active poet. His entire catalogue is available on Columbia Records. His 1967 debut Songs of Leonard Cohen earned an RIAA gold record; he followed up with three more highly acclaimed albums: Songs from a Room (1969), Songs of Love and Hate (1971) and New Skin for the Old Ceremony (1974), before allowing Phil Spector to produce Death of a Ladies' Man for Warner Bros. Gong Global Family – Live in Brazil 2007 is a live album and DVD by the psychedelic rock band Gong in their Global Family format, recorded on 20 November 2007 at the SESI theatre in São Paulo, but not released until 2009 by Voiceprint, catalogue number VP520CD. No producer was credited, but mixing and mastering were carried out by guitarist Fabio Golfetti and video editing and DVD were by Flavio Tsutsumi.

Union Live is a live album and video by English progressive rock band Yes, released in January 2011 on Voiceprint Records. It was originally released in three versions; a single DVD, a double CD, and a limited edition double CD and DVD set. The album and video were recorded in 1991 during their Union Tour, staged in support of their studio album Union (1991) and featured the group's eight-member formation.

The Living Tree is an album by Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman, both previously members of progressive rock band Yes. The album was initially sold only as a souvenir during their UK tour in Autumn 2010, titled "The Anderson Wakeman Project 360" and from the Gonzo Multimedia online store. It was made available to the public on 29 November 2010.

"A Star Is Born" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Jay-Z from his eleventh studio album The Blueprint 3 (2009). The song, produced by Kanye West, Kenoe and No I.D., features a verse from American rapper J. Cole, Jay-Z's protege and the first artist to be signed to his Roc Nation label. In the song, Jay-Z recognizes rappers who have risen to fame in the last decade, such as Kanye West, Lil Wayne, T.I., Eminem and 50 Cent. Notably, Jay-Z also gives shout-outs to Mobb Deep, Nas and two artists whom he had previously insulted on his 2001 song "Takeover".
