WeSC (short for "We are the Superlative Conspiracy") is a Swedish clothing brand that is primarily influenced by skateboarding and snowboarding. The company's head office is in Stockholm and employs between 51 and 200 staff members. [1] The company's CEO is Joseph Janus. [2]

History

Founded in 1999, [1] the brand first garnered attention by sponsoring Swedish underground artists, musicians and skateboarders, and did not engage in any other marketing.[ citation needed ] Swedish hip hop acts Looptroop and Timbuktu were among the first to be sponsored by WESC, contributing to the development of an alternative image that turned out to be very popular with young Swedish consumers who were critical of mainstream companies.[ citation needed ]

Retail outlets

In 2009, WeSC signed an exclusive retail deal with Oved Apparel Corp for the latter to oversee all WeSC stores in the United States, with the exception of the New York City and Los Angeles locations. [3] The company opened a concept store in Singapore in early 2012. [4]

We Activists

As of July 2014, WESC maintains a group of sponsored individuals, skateboarders and musicians who are called "We Activists" by the company.

WeActivists are defined by the company as "someone that is extremely good at what they do, world famous or totally unknown. A Weactivist is someone that has a streetwise mentality, blazing his, or her own path, with a humble persona. Essentially, they are an informal ambassador flying the flag of the Superlative Conspiracy in a variety of subcultures, such as skate, music, film and art. They are always a friend and never chosen at random." [1]

Rodriguez has won a total of eight medals at the X Games, four of them gold, with the most recent first-place victory occurring in Los Angeles, United States in July 2012.

Embee Swedish hip hop DJ and producer

Embee is a Swedish hip hop DJ and producer. He was born Magnus Bergkvist on February 24, 1977 in Badelunda, Västmanland, Sweden. He is best known for his work with Swedish hip-hop group Looptroop Rockers. His first solo album Tellings from Solitaria won a Swedish Grammy Award for best hip hop or soul release of 2005.

Jerry Hsu is a Taiwanese-American skateboarder, photographer and currently owner of clothing company "Sci-Fi Fantasy". As of October 2018, Hsu does not have pro status in skateboarding anymore and has no sponsors.

Alien Workshop (AWS) is an independent American skateboarding company that was founded in 1990 by Chris Carter, Mike Hill, and Neil Blender in Dayton, Ohio. Following periods under the ownership of the Burton snowboard company and original team rider Rob Dyrdek in 2012, the company was acquired by Pacific Vector Holdings in October 2013. Alien Workshop produced skateboard decks, wheels, apparel, and other skateboard accessories prior to its closure in May 2014. In 2015, Alien Workshop was revived with an all-amateur team and distribution through Tum Yeto. They released a series of new skate decks and Bunker Down, the brand's sixth video. As of 2016, Alien Workshop, led by Mike Hill phased out working with Tum-Yeto and moved all operations back to the Mound Laboratories in Miamisburg, Ohio. After a tumultuous ownership history they have returned to operations as an independent company.

Eric Koston

Eric Koston is an American professional skateboarder and company owner. He has been featured in the Tony Hawk's video game series, and the Electronic Arts (EA) video games Skate 2 and Skate 3. Koston co-owns both Fourstar Clothing and the skatepark/website "The Berrics".

Shane Cross was an Australian street skateboarder from the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Cross gained global prominence within the skateboarding community during the mid-2000s, before his death in a motorcycle crash when he was 20.

Siesta! Music festival in Sweden

SiESTA! was an annual music festival that took place in Hässleholm, Sweden, between 2003 to 2014. It was arranged for the first time in 2003 by the non-profit organization KF Markan.

Cliché Skateboards

Cliché Skateboards was a skateboard company based in Lyon, France, and distributed by the American company Dwindle Distribution. The company was established in 1997 by French professional skateboarder Jeremie Daclin. In 2001, Cliché was purchased by the France-based Salomon Group which in 2005 became a part of Amer Sports. In 2009, US-based Dwindle Distribution purchased the company from the Salomon Group. In November 2016, Dwindle announced that they would be discontinuing the brand.

Joseph Janus is an American advertising executive and businessman. He is the chief executive officer of WESC America, a clothing company. He has been the advertising and marketing senior vice president at Calvin Klein and the Creative Director of Bodhi Bags.
