The University of North Texas (UNT) is a public research university in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. UNT's main campus is in Denton, Texas, and it also has a satellite campus in Frisco, Texas. UNT is the flagship member of the University of North Texas System, which includes additional universities in Dallas and Fort Worth. Established in 1890, UNT is one of the largest universities in the United States.

O’More College of Design was a private college in Franklin, Tennessee. In February 2018, it merged with Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee to become the O'More School of Design at Belmont University.

Georgia Highlands College is a public college in northwest Georgia. It has locations in Floyd County, Cartersville, Marietta, and Dallas and serves the northwest parts of Georgia, as well as parts of east Alabama and southeast Tennessee. A member of the University System of Georgia, the college was originally a community college and has since expanded to also offer bachelor degrees. Between 5,700 and 6,100 students are enrolled at GHC in any given semester, representing 49 different countries. In 2020, the college had a record high number of graduates and an economic impact of over $181 million.

The school was one of a number of Art Institutes, a franchise of for-profit art colleges with many branches in North America, owned and operated by Education Management Corporation. EDMC owned the college from 1975 until 2017, when, facing significant financial problems and declining enrollment, the company sold the Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago, along with 30 other Art Institute schools, to Dream Center Education, a Los Angeles–based Pentecostal organization.
Harrington College of Design (1931–2015) was a for-profit college in the Loop area of Chicago, Illinois, US, that closed in 2015. It offered students programs leading to either a master's, bachelor's or associate's degree upon completion of the interior design, digital photography or communication design programs. Each program was credentialed with multiple levels of accreditation. The college was owned by Career Education Corporation.
The Art Institute of Dallas in Dallas, Texas, United States, was a private for-profit art school owned and operated by Miami International University of Art & Design. The Art Institute of Dallas offered associate degree and bachelor's degree programs for fashion design, fashion marketing management, interior design, graphic design, media arts & animation, advertising design, baking & pastry, photography, web design & interactive media, digital filmmaking & video production, audio production, and culinary arts. All Art Institute schools closed permanently on September 30, 2023.

The school was one of a number of Art Institutes, a franchise of for-profit art colleges with many branches in North America, owned and operated by Education Management Corporation (EDMC). EDMC owned the college from 1973 until 2017, when, facing declining enrollment, multiple fraud charges brought by faculty and students, and accreditation issues at some of its schools, the company sold the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, along with other properties, to Dream Center Education, a Los Angeles-based Pentecostal organization. Dream Center Education planned to operate the school, along with others it acquired, as a non-profit. The plan proved unsustainable, with Dream Center permanently closing 18 Art Institute schools, including Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, at the end of 2018.
Northwest Vista College is a public community college in San Antonio, Texas. It is one of five community college institutions that comprise the Alamo Colleges District and is located in the Westover Hills neighborhood of San Antonio's Far West Side. IADT - Tampa was a for-profit college offering both bachelor and associate degrees in many different fields of study. The former Sears executive Clem Stein established the original International Academy of Design and Technology in Chicago in 1977. The Tampa location opened in 1984. IADT's holding company, Career Education Corporation, merged the school under the Sanford-Brown College name in March 2014 before closing the location a year later.

A Bachelor of Design degree is usually an undergraduate degree in the field of design awarded for a course or major that generally lasts three or four years. It is the undergraduate equivalent of the Master of Design, MDes. Bachelor of Design degrees have been popular in Canada and Australia for several decades and are gaining popularity in the United States as discipline-specific design education expands and becomes more specialized. There are several variants of the Bachelor of Design degree, including the Bachelor of Design Arts and the Bachelor of Design Studies.
New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) is a private college focused exclusively on interior design and located in New York City. The college offers certificate, three undergraduate, and four master's degree programs.
