Waheed ur Rehman Para is an Indian politician of Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party currently serving as its Youth Wing President. [1] He has also served as the Secretary Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Born and raised in Naira village of South Kashmir's Pulwama district. He joined the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party in 2013 as was subsequently appointed at its youth wing president. [2] In the following years,he served as the political analyst to then J&K CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2015 [3] and as secretary J&K Sports Council till 2018. [4]
He was arrested by National Investigation Agency on 25 November 2020 for alleged terror links, [5] [6] however was again rearrested by J&K Police after receiving bail from Special NIA Court. [7] [8] He was released on bail by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court in May 2022, [9] [10] [11] and was selected as the inaugural Yale Peace Fellow at Yale University’s International Leadership Center. Para contested the 2024 Indian general election from the Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency as a candidate from the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] [19] and lost to NC's Ruhullah Mehdi,while securing 1 lakh 68 thousand votes. [20] [21]
Waheed entered politics in 2013 and was subsequently appointed as the Youth Wing President of Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party. [2]
He served as the Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council from July 2016 to 2018. [22] Waheed took part in 2015 UNCCC,held in Paris,as a special representative from the state of J&K In 2018. [23] He had also survived an attack on life after terrorists fired at his vehicle in Central Kashmir's Budgam district [24] [25] [26]
Followig arrest by the National Investigation Agency, [27] [28] he won the DDC Elections,2020 from Pulwama constituency while being under custody. [29] [30] [31] [32] After remaining incarcerated at Srinagar's central jail for over 17 months,he was released after the Jammu and Kashmir High Court granted him bail and observed "The evidence as is gathered by the prosecution is too sketchy to be believed prima facie true,that too,with a view to deny bail to the appellant." Mehbooba Mufti Sayed is an Indian politician and leader of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP),who served as the 9th Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 4 April 2016 to 19 June 2018. She was the first female chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. After the revocation of Article 370 of the constitution in August 2019,Mufti was detained without any charges at first and later under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act.
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a state political party in Jammu and Kashmir,India. The PDP was headed and founded by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. His daughter,Mehbooba Mufti,succeeded him as party leader and as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir following his death in January 2016. The party is a member of the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration electoral alliance. The party is also a member of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance since its founding on 18 June 2023.
Asiya Andrabi is a Kashmiri separatist and founding leader of Dukhtaran-e-Millat. This group is part of the separatist organisation All Parties Hurriyat Conference in the Kashmir valley. Government of India has declared it as a "banned organization". The organisation claims that it aims for the freedom of Kashmir from India.

On 26 May 2008,the government of India and the state Government of Jammu and Kashmir reached an agreement to transfer 99 acres (0.40 km2) of forest land to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) in the main Kashmir Valley to set up temporary shelters and facilities for Hindu pilgrims to Amarnath Temple. He also works as a freelance multimedia journalist for various international organisations. In 2017,he was booked under UAPA and lodged at Tihar Jail. Many national as well as international organisations including Committee to Protect Journalists,the International Federation of Journalists,Amnesty International and more issued statements for his immediate release. He got bail after six months and was discharged from all the charges on 16 March 2022 by Delhi court.
Aga Syed Mohsin Al Mosvi is a cleric,political leader,and a member of the esteemed Aga family of Budgam. He is the son of the late Shia religious scholar Aga Syed Mustafa Moosavi,and the brother of the late Aga Syed Hussain and Aga Syed Mehdi.
A District Development Council is a form of elected local government in Jammu and Kashmir facilitated by the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act,1989 and created under Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Rule,1996 of the constitution of India. Legislative Assembly elections are speculated to be held in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in 2024 to elect 90 members of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Legally,the election shall be held no later than 30 September 2024.
Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi is an Indian politician of Jammu &Kashmir National Conference (JKNC)from Jammu and Kashmir and member of the Indian Parliament who represents the constituency of Srinagar,Jammu &Kashmir. He is a well known Shia cleric succeeding his father Aga syed Mehdi,an ex-MLA Budgam as well as a former cabinet minister. In July 2020,he resigned from the post of chief spokesman of NC.
