Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called rocks, across the ice curling sheet toward the house, a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a game; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each end, which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. A game usually consists of eight or ten ends.
The Tim Hortons Brier, or simply the Brier, is the annual Canadian men's curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada. The current event name refers to its main sponsor, the Tim Hortons coffee and donut shop chain. "Brier" originally referred to a brand of tobacco sold by the event's first sponsor, the Macdonald Tobacco Company.
The Ottawa Curling Club is an historic curling club located on O'Connor Street in the Centretown neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is the oldest curling club in Ottawa, established in 1851 by Allan Gilmour as the Bytown Curling Club. The Club first played on the Rideau Canal until 1858. It subsequently moved to different locations around the city until finally settling at its current location on O'Connor in 1916. In 1931 the club was expanded to the current capacity of 5 curling sheets. Artificial ice was also installed at that time.
Reg Wiebe was a Dutch Canadian-born curler and curling coach from the Curling Club Utrecht. In a middle of 2000s he was a skip of the Dutch national team. Wiebe has played in six European Curling Championships, including a 10th-place finish in the 1999 Championships as a third for Wim Neeleman. Wiebe has skipped the Dutch team to three European championships. In 2002 they finished 12th, in 2005 they finished 19th, and in 2007 they finished 17th.
Craig Edward Savill is a Canadian curler from Manotick, Ontario, Canada. He currently plays third on Team Adam Casey. He also coaches the Czech men's national team.
Nicole Joraanstad is an American curler from Verona, Wisconsin. She currently plays second for Erika Brown.
Hamilton "Hammy" McMillan is a Scottish curler and world champion. He won a gold medal as skip for the Scottish team at the 1999 Ford World Curling Championships in Saint John, New Brunswick. He has received five gold medals at the European Curling Championships. He played third for the Tom Brewster rink before forming his own team.
Eve Muirhead is a Scottish former curler from Perth and the skip of the British Olympic Curling team. Muirhead and the GB team became Olympic champions at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, having previously won the bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Claudio Pescia is a Swiss curler from Unterägeri. Originally the skip of the Italian national team, Pescia now skips under the Swiss flag.
Tyler George is an American curler from Duluth, Minnesota. He is a three-time U.S. Champion, 2016 World bronze medalist, and 2018 Olympic gold medalist. Since the 2018 Olympics, he has taken a break from playing competitive curling, instead spending time as an ambassador and coach for the sport.
Mark Lazar is an American curler and curling coach. He competed in the 2005 United States Olympic Curling Trials. He curls out of the Detroit Curling Club. He coached Team Stopera to three United States Junior Championships and a silver medal at the 2017 World Junior Championships.
John Bryden (1927–2012) was a Scottish curler. He competed in four World Championships, winning the gold medal in 1967.

J. Nelson Brown was an American curler. He played third on the Detroit Curling Club team during the World Curling Championships known as the 1963 Scotch Cup, where United States team finished with bronze medals.
Ernest "Ernie, Mighty Mite" Slyziuk was an American curler. He played second on the Detroit Curling Club team during the Curling World Championships known as the 1963 Scotch Cup. Slyziuk and his team ended up taking third place and were awarded the bronze medal.
The 2019 New Holland Canadian Junior Curling Championships was held from January 19 to 27 at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The winners represented Canada at the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships in Liverpool, Nova Scotia.

James "Jim" Pleasants is an American curler and curling coach from Seattle, Washington.
Jürgen "Jürg" Dick is a former Swiss curler. He played third position on the Swiss rink that won a gold medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics when curling was a demonstration sport. Later that year, he won a bronze medal at his first appearance at the 1992 European Curling Championships. He is also a two-time Swiss junior curling champion curler.
