Walter Meza (born December 8, 1966, Buenos Aires, Aregentina) is an Argentinian singer of thrash metal and heavy metal, known for being the singer of the band Horcas, from 1997 to the present. [1]
Walter Darío Meza was born in Buenos Aires City, moving on his first years to the town of San Justo in the city of La Matanza. He began his career in a group called Barloff. Later, when he was fourteen years old, he was the singer of the band Delay, band where also was Paul Mondello, current guitarist of the band Massacre. Also was part of the bands Samurai and Heinkel. He later joined Jeriko, with some of the members of his former bands Heinkel and Retrosatan. With this lineup, they recorded a demo of four songs and reached the final of a contest sponsored by Yamaha, being able to play along other important groups like Hermética, Rata Blanca, Logos and Lethal. Walter left the group in 1995 and in 1997 he became the singer of Horcas, the band of the former V8 guitarist, Osvaldo Civile, role he holds until today. [4]
With this group, he edited more than ten studio albums and performed along international bands like Pantera, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Stratovarius, Soulfly, Exodus, Megadeth, Metallica and Black Sabbath. [5]

Hermética was an Argentine thrash metal band from San Martín, Buenos Aires. It was formed by bassist Ricardo Iorio in 1987 after his previous band, V8, disbanded. Hermética was signed to the independent record label Radio Trípoli Discos throughout their career. The band's initial lineup consisted of Iorio, vocalist Claudio O'Connor, drummer Fabián Spataro and guitarist Antonio Romano. Spataro left the band in 1988 and was replaced by Antonio Scotto. This lineup recorded their eponymous album, the first thrash metal album recorded in Argentina. At this point of their career, Hermética performed mainly in Argentina, except for one concert held in Uruguay. In 1990, they released Intérpretes—an extended play which included covers of Argentine rock and tango songs. Both albums were released by Radio Trípoli Discos as a single CD when digital technology became available.
Horcas is a heavy metal band from Argentina created in 1988 by Osvaldo Civile, former guitarist for V8, Argentina’s landmark heavy metal outfit of the 1980s. After quitting V8 in 1985, and impressed by the new generation of thrash metal bands from the Bay Area led by Metallica, Civile set out to put together a new group in that style. That project, which included former V8 bandmate Gustavo Rowek on the drums, was however delayed for a number of reasons, and it was not until 1988 that it could definitely take off. By that time though, put off by the incessant postponements, Rowek had joined another former V8 member, Walter Giardino, in his new project Rata Blanca.
V8 was an Argentine heavy metal band formed in 1979, one of the first notable Argentine and Latin America bands of that genre. After its dissolution former members have continued their careers starting other heavy metal bands, Hermética, Horcas, Rata Blanca, Logos and Almafuerte.

The first popular artist was Pappo, who created the band Riff influenced by the contemporary new wave of British heavy metal. V8 was formed at that time as well, and most of its members created notable bands after their respective departures from the band: Ricardo Iorio and Walter Giardino, currently in Almafuerte and Rata Blanca, are still popular. The second half of the 1980s saw the success of hard rock bands such as Kamikaze, Alakran and Rata Blanca, with an aesthetic similar to the contemporary glam metal. Thrash metal bands, such as Hermética, Horcas and Lethal, appeared in the late 80s and early 90s.
