Walter Pawelkiewicz (born February 8,1949) is an American politician who served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from the 49th district from 1999 to 2009. [1] [2]

The Jackson family owned the Register, published weekday evenings and Saturday and Sunday mornings,and The Journal-Courier,a morning weekday paper,until they were combined in 1987 into a seven-day morning Register.

Incumbent Republican Governor Jodi Rell had announced in a press conference in Hartford on November 9,2009,that she would not seek re-election in 2010. The sites Cook Political Report and CQ Politics both rated the election as a toss-up. This was the first open seat gubernatorial election in the state since 1994. As of 2024,this is the last time the Governor's office in Connecticut changed partisan control.
Huskies of Honor is a recognition program sponsored by the University of Connecticut (UConn). Similar to a hall of fame,it honors the most significant figures in the history of the UConn Huskies—the university's athletic teams—especially the men's and women's basketball teams. The inaugural honorees,inducted in two separate ceremonies during the 2006–07 season,included thirteen men's basketball players,ten women's basketball players,and four head coaches,of whom two coaches—Jim Calhoun and Geno Auriemma—and three players—Ray Allen,Swin Cash and Rebecca Lobo—are also enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Since that time,an additional twelve women's basketball players,ten men's basketball players,nine national championship teams,one women's basketball assistant coach,and one athletic director have been honored.
The 1927 Yale Bulldogs football team was an American football team that represented Yale University as an independent during the 1927 college football season. The team finished with a 7–1 record,shut out four opponents,and outscored all opponents by a total of 157 to 32. The team was rated as one of the greatest to ever represent Yale. The team included two consensus All-Americans and was retroactively recognized by the Boand System and College Football Researchers Association as the national champion for 1927. The team was ranked No. 5 in the nation in the Dickinson System ratings released in December 1927.

The Hartford Yard Goats are a Minor League Baseball team based in Hartford,Connecticut. The Yard Goats,which play in the Eastern League,are the Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.
