Lieutenant General Walter Koipaton Raria, is a Kenyan military officer. Between July 2018 and July 2022, he served as the Commander Kenya Army, a service branch of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). [1]

At the time of his appointment to his current assignment, Lt. General Walter Raria was the Deputy Commander of the Kenya Army, a position that he had served in for the previous two years. He replaced Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi, who was promoted to the position of Vice Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces ... [1]

As Commander of the Army

Lt. General Raria was sworn in as Army Commander on 13 July 2018. [2] He is the 21st Commander of the Kenya Army. [1]

In July 2022, Uhuru Kenyatta, the president of Kenya at that time, appointed Lieutenant General Peter Mbogo Njiru, as the 22nd Commander of the Kenyan Army. The handover ceremony took place at the Department of Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, on 8 August 2022. [3] General Raria retired from the Kenyan military, later in 2022. [4]

The Vice Chief of the Defence Staff is the second most senior member of the Canadian Armed Forces, reporting to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) as well as the Deputy Minister of National Defence. The Directorate General Executive Coordination, the Canadian Forces Provost Marshal, the National Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group and several other departments report to the VCDS, who is appointed by the CDS.

The inauguration of Uhuru Kenyatta as the 4th president of Kenya took place on 9 April 2013. Kenyatta won 50.07% of the vote in the 2013 presidential election, after the supreme court dismissed the Raila petition on 30 March 2013. According to Article 141 (2) (b) of the constitution, in case the Supreme Court upholds the victory of the president-elect, the swearing in will take place on "the first Tuesday following the seventh day following the date on which the court renders a decision declaring the election to be valid." The event was held at Kasarani Stadium.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta</span>

The presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta began on 9 April 2013 after being sworn in as 4th president of Kenya and ended on 13 September 2022 after handing over to William Ruto. He succeeded Mwai Kibaki. During his inaugural speech Uhuru promised economic transformation by 2030, unity among all Kenyans, free maternal care and that he would serve all Kenyans. In 2017, he won a second term on 8 August and upon a Supreme Court verdict, the results were repealed. The resulting elections were controversial as Raila Odinga boycotted the elections and as the only other active candidate, he won by a 98% victory with the lowest turn out. A stalemate would result as Raila and His partners would carry out a parallel swearing in ceremony after Kenyatta's swearing in. Riots would break out as Raila entered the country resulting in a number of deaths. On 28 March the two partnered to form the Building bridges initiative ending the tense political atmosphere present in the country.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Wilson Mbadi</span> Ugandan general

General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi is a senior military officer in the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF). He currently serves as the Chief of Defense Forces, the highest position in Uganda's military. He was appointed to that position on 24 June 2021, replacing General David Muhoozi, who was appointed State Minister of Internal Affairs.

The Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS) is a statutory position in the Indian Armed Forces usually held by a three star lieutenant general. As the second highest ranking officer to serve in the Indian Army, the VCOAS is the deputy professional head of the Indian Army and a senior adviser to the Minister of Defence. The office holder is usually the second most senior army officer unless the Chief of Defence is an army officer.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kenya Army Band</span>

The Kenya Army Band is the primary military musical unit in the Kenya Army and the Kenya Defence Forces. The band was founded shortly after Kenya gained its independence from the United Kingdom in 1963 as the successor the Band of King's African Rifles of East Africa. It is present at all national celebrations including Jamhuri Day, Heroes' Day and Remembrance Day. All members of the band are aged between 18–26 at the time of enlistment with the band and it takes 5 years before a musician is qualified to perform with the band, which is currently based out of the Lang'ata Army Barracks near Nairobi. The barracks are also home to another of the band's institutions, the Kenya Army School of Music.

The Kenya Navy Band is the sole musical unit in the Kenya Navy and one of three state-sponsored military bands in the Kenya Defence Forces.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kenya Coast Guard Service</span>

The Kenya Coast Guard Service is a specialized maritime force of the Republic of Kenya, responsible for law enforcement on national waters, including on the oceans, lakes and rivers. The force is mandated to maintain maritime safety, security, pollution control and sanitation. It is also responsible for apprehending and prosecuting offenders.

Brigadier Vincent Naisho Loonena, is a Kenyan military officer in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). Effective 2018, he is the Director General of Kenya Coast Guard Service (KCGS), a specialized maritime force of the Republic of Kenya, responsible for law enforcement on national waters, including on the oceans, lakes and rivers. Prior to his current assignment, he was the managing director of the KDF Medical Insurance Program, where he had served for four months, since July 2018.
