Ward Centers, formerly known as Victoria Ward Centers, is a shopping complex near Waikiki at Kaka'ako in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Ward Centers is a retail hub as host to Ward Entertainment Center, Ward Centre, Ward Farmers Market, Ward Gateway Center, Ward Village Shops, Ward Warehouse and a new, multimillion-dollar 150,000 square foot (14,000 m²) entertainment center. The theater complex, owned by Consolidated Theatres, and high tech midway opened in 2001. [1]

Transformation to Ward Village

The Howard Hughes Corporation plans to transform Ward Centers into Ward Village over the next decade. In addition to retail, Ward Village will feature residential towers. [2]

Early history

Victoria Ward was the wife of Honolulu industrialist Curtis Perry Ward and daughter of influential British shipbuilder James Robinson. Victoria Ward and her husband owned a vast estate (over 100 acres) in central Honolulu that stretched from Thomas Square to the shores of Ala Moana. On the estate was their mansion, Old Plantation, the site of the present-day Neal S. Blaisdell Center. In 1882, Curtis Perry Ward died and left his holdings to his wife and daughters. Victoria Ward continued the family business, purchasing real estate which would be developed for commercial use. [3] [4]

The Victoria Ward Limited acts as the owner and operator of Victoria Ward Centers; it operates as a The Howard Hughes Corporation. The company owns approximately 65 acres in Honolulu, including the Ward Entertainment Center, Ward Warehouse, Ward Village, and Village Shops. [5]

It was founded by brothers Martin, Matthew and Maurice Bucksbaum in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1954, and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois since 2000. The Howard Hughes Corporation is a major real estate development and management company based in Dallas, Texas. It began as part of the oil drilling tool business founded by Howard R. Hughes, Sr., in 1913, which under his son Howard Hughes, Jr., diversified into real estate development. The real estate operations became a separate company, which was acquired by The Rouse Company, which in turn was acquired by General Growth Properties (GGP). In 2010, GGP spun off The Howard Hughes Corporation as a separate company.

The Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, or simply Pittsburgh Mills, is a super-regional shopping center northeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in Frazer Township, along PA Route 28 near its intersection with the Pennsylvania Turnpike. University Mall (Little Rock, Arkansas) shopping mall in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

University Mall is a defunct shopping center in central Arkansas which operated for approximately 40 years, from 1967 until 2007. When it closed, University Mall was the oldest enclosed shopping center in the Little Rock metropolitan area. Located in the central part of Little Rock, the site is situated along South University Avenue, north of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Interstate 630. The mall was managed by Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group.

The Downtown Summerlin shopping center is an outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment center. It is a part of the greater Downtown Summerlin area, a 400-acre (160 ha) development which lies within the affluent community of Summerlin on the western outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada. The shopping center contains 1,600,000 square feet (150,000 m2) and is located on 106 acres (43 ha).

Landmark Mall

The Landmark Mall is an American shopping mall. Located in a triangle formed by Duke Street, Interstate 395, and Van Dorn Street in Alexandria, Virginia, the mall opened in 1965 and closed temporarily for renovation into an "urban-town" on January 31, 2017. The mall was anchored by Sears and two vacant anchors last occupied by Lord & Taylor and Macy's.

The company was formed through the merger of AMB Property Corporation and ProLogis in June 2011, which made Prologis the largest industrial real estate company in the world. OliverMcMillan, established in 1978, is a private real estate development firm based in San Diego, California. It creates mixed-use retail, entertainment, and residential projects, both privately and through public-private partnerships with public entities and redevelopment agencies across the U.S. OliverMcMillan has received four national industry design awards and more than 50 regional industry design awards over the past 35 years. The firm has designed and developed more than eight million square feet of projects, with a total project value exceeding $3 billion. As of 2014, OliverMcMillan has approximately $2 billion in real estate projects under development in major U.S. cities, including Houston, San Diego, Honolulu, Atlanta and Phoenix.

Ward Village is a 60-acre (24 ha), master-planned community in the Kaka'ako district of Honolulu. It is being developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation. Once completed, this beachfront development will have luxury residences, retail stores, entertainment venues, pedestrian friendly streets and public open space.

Downtown Summerlin

Downtown Summerlin is a 400-acre (160 ha) commercial and residential neighborhood located in Summerlin South, an affluent suburban area on the western outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Capitol Commons Place

Capitol Commons is a mixed-use development under construction in Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is a redevelopment of the former Rizal Provincial Capitol complex located in the village of Oranbo adjacent to the Ortigas Center financial district. The 10-hectare (25-acre) site being developed by Ortigas & Company Limited Partnership, the same developer behind Ortigas Center, features Pasig's first high-end shopping center called Estancia at Capitol Commons. When completed, the P25-billion mixed-use commercial, residential and office development will have 35,000 square metres (380,000 sq ft) of retail space, 20,000 square metres (220,000 sq ft) of office space for knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) companies, and 280,000 square metres (3,000,000 sq ft) of residential units. A Capitol Commons Park and open spaces are also planned within the property which would take up more than fifty percent of the development.
