Ward T. Russell is an American photographer [1] and cinematographer.

He is best known for his collaborations with film director Tony Scott, [2] he served as a chief lighting technician on Scott's films Top Gun , Beverly Hills Cop II , Revenge , and as a cinematographer on Days of Thunder and The Last Boy Scout , which Scott also directed. His other cinematography credits include Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace , The X-Files , Unstoppable and Cruel World . [3]

He is a graduate of the University of Kansas and is married to film production coordinator Mary Cay Hollander. [3]

A film crew is a group of people, hired by a production company, for the purpose of producing a film or motion picture. The crew is distinguished from the cast, as the cast are understood to be the actors who appear in front of the camera or provide voices for characters in the film. The crew is also separate from the producers, as the producers are the ones who own a portion of either the film studio or the film's intellectual property rights. Andrew Lesnie ACS ASC was an Australian cinematographer. He was best known as the cinematographer for The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003) and its prequel The Hobbit trilogy (2012–2014), both directed by New Zealand director Peter Jackson. He received the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in 2002.

His father is the Guatemalan journalist, poet, and fiction writer Roberto P. Quezada.

Ross Lowell

Ross Kohut Lowell was an American inventor, photographer, cinematographer, lighting designer, author and entrepreneur who changed the film production industry with two inventions: a widely used quick-clamp lighting mount system, and gaffer tape. He founded Lowel-Light, a manufacturer of highly portable lighting equipment used in TV, film and stage lighting, with 20 patents filed by Lowell. Lowell was the cinematographer for the Academy Award-winning short A Year Toward Tomorrow (1966), and he won an Academy Award for Technical Achievement in 1980 for his compact lighting system. The same year, he was nominated for Best Short Film, Live Action for his 14-minute film Oh Brother, My Brother (1979), depicting two of his young children. In 1987 Lowell was awarded the John Grierson Gold Medal by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), "in recognition of his many achievements, inventions, and innovative developments in the field of lightweight lighting and of grip equipment."

Erik Messerschmidt American cinematographer

Erik Messerschmidt, ASC, is an American cinematographer. He is best known for his collaborations with director David Fincher on the films Mank and Gone Girl, and on the Netflix series Mindhunter. He has also shot episodes of the TV series Fargo, Legion, and Raised by Wolves. His work has been nominated for an Emmy. In April 2021, he won the top ASC Award and the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Mank.
