Warren Dean Flandez is a Canadian gospel and rhythm and blues singer. [1] He is a two-time Juno Award nominee for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year, receiving nods at the Juno Awards of 2017 for Eternally Grateful [1] and at the Juno Awards of 2019 for Speak. [2] Warren is also an eight-time GMA Covenant award winner. [3]

Warren Dean Flandez is of Filipino, Polynesian, Spanish, and Chinese descent. He was born in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. He released his debut album Vintage Love in 2011, [4] and competed in the reality show Cover Me Canada that year where he placed fourth in the country. [5] The album received a Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Best Urban Album in 2012. [6] He released the gospel EP What the World Needs Now in 2015 under the pseudonym WDF, before releasing the full-length gospel album Eternally Grateful in 2016 which in addition to his Juno Award nomination, received a Western Canadian Music Award for Spiritual Artist of the Year in 2017. [7] In 2018, Warren released the gospel crossover album Speak, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Inspirational charts and #18 on the iTunes overall charts Top 100. [8] Born for Greatness was the first single from Speak which features Riverdale star KJ Apa. [9] 100% of first week sales of Born for Greatness were donated to Music Heals, a Canadian charity dedicated to Music Therapy. [8]

In addition to his music career, Flandez launched the Vancouver-based arts project Studio Cloud 30, a multidisciplinary artist development studio with locations in Vancouver, Burnaby and Tsawwassen. [10]

In 2021, Warren's home designed by his architect father, Dennis Flandez, was featured in several international design publications including Architectural Digest Spain, Italy and Russia. [11] The modern Japanese inspired home built around a central courtyard, gained international recognition including placing number 4 on AD Spain's Top 10 most viewed homes. [12]

As a philanthropist, Warren has worked with many charities including Warchild Canada and Canuck Place Children's Hospice. [13] A graduate from Cornell University's Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program, [14] Warren also co-founded The Harmony Initiative Society aka THIS, a non-profit society dedicated to promoting community harmony through arts and culture JEDI initiatives. [15]

It is also the location of Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, part of the BC Ferries, built in 1959 to provide foot-passenger and motor vehicle access from the Lower Mainland to the southern part of Vancouver Island and the southern Gulf Islands. Because Tsawwassen touches a shallow bank, the ferry terminal is built at the southwestern end of a 3 km (1.9 mi) causeway that juts into the Strait of Georgia. Boundary Bay Airport, a major training hub for local and international pilots which also provides local airplane and helicopter service, is ten minutes away. The Roberts Bank Superport is also nearby.

He has won five GMA Dove Awards, has been nominated for three American Music Awards, and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album in 2010 for his album, Speaking Louder Than Before. I Still Believe, a film based on Camp's first marriage, was released in 2020, with Camp being played by New Zealand actor KJ Apa.

The Juno Award for "Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year" has been awarded since 1998, as recognition each year for the best Christian/Gospel music album in Canada. A separate organization, the Gospel Music Association of Canada, hands out a full array of awards for Canadian Contemporary Christian/Gospel music, covering a wide range of genres, each year with the annual Covenant Awards.

Jerry Victor Doucette was a Canadian guitarist and singer-songwriter. He was noted for his hit single "Mama Let Him Play", which made the Billboard Top 100. His band, Doucette, won the Juno Award for Most Promising Group of the Year in 1979.

The Covenant Awards are awarded to the Canadian gospel music industry by GMA Canada, the Gospel Music Association of Canada. The GMA Canada Lifetime Achievement Award is handed out annually by GMA Canada. The 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards were held on April 25, 2007 recognizing accomplishments of musicians for the year 2006. The show was held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, and was hosted by Brian Littrell, Natalie Grant, and Donnie McClurkin. This was the first year in which the awards were called the "GMA Dove Awards" since the 2006 edition was called the "GMA Music Awards".

<i>Wheres Our Revolution</i> 2009 studio album by Matt Brouwer

Where's Our Revolution is the third studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Matt Brouwer. It was released on August 25, 2009 through Universal Music Distribution. The album is Brouwer's most successful release to date and was well received with critics calling it, "...a gorgeous piece of work" and commending Brouwer's songwriting and vocal performance. The hit "Sometimes" reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart and 3 other singles received considerable airplay on Christian radio stations in Canada and the US. The album won a Juno Award in 2010 as it was named best Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the year, and was also nominated for seven GMA Canada Covenant Awards, winning the Covenant Award for best song and fan favorite artist of the year. The album was nominated for Gospel Recording of the Year by the East Coast Music Awards and Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album and Song of the Year by the Independent Music Awards.

Mark Masri is a Canadian singer, songwriter and producer. He is signed to EMI record label and has released five albums: Mark Masri, La Voce, Christmas Is..., A Christmas Time with You, and Intimo, as well as a special US release: See My Face US. He sings in English and also has a multilingual repertoire of interpretations. On his album La Voce he sings a collection of classic songs in six languages.
