Cover Me Canada is a Canadian reality television competition show which airs on CBC Television. The show is a competition to find the most talented singer, rock band, group, or ensemble in Canada. [1]

Contents

The show is hosted by Canadian-born pop singer Nicole Appleton [1] and judged by Jordan Knight, Deborah Cox, and Ron Fair.

Contestants can select from four Canadian songs to cover: "Sundown" by Gordon Lightfoot, "Run to You" by Bryan Adams, "Life is a Highway" by Tom Cochrane or "Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles. [2]

Format

The original format was created and developed by Jesse Fawcett and Kevin Healey at 11 Television and then sold to CBC.

Eight contestants are chosen from video auditions and are given a Canadian song to cover and perform live. At the end of the broadcast, viewers are asked to vote and share their favourites to earn them immunity from the next week's elimination.

Votes and online buzz are both factors to decide which competitor will be granted immunity and be safe from elimination by the judges. [3]

<i>Hiccups</i> (TV series)

Hiccups is a Canadian television series created by Corner Gas star Brent Butt, who is also the writer, show runner, and executive producer of the program. The series was produced by Laura Lightbown and David Storey and airs on CTV and The Comedy Network. The pilot was shot in late March 2009 with the rest of the series to begin shooting in September 2009. The show premiered on CTV on March 1, 2010; the same night as Dan for Mayor, a series starring fellow Corner Gas alumnus Fred Ewanuick. Hiccups returned for a second season on May 30, 2011 at 8pm ET. CTV did not renew Hiccups and Dan for Mayor for a third season.

<i>Battle of the Blades</i>

Battle of the Blades is a Canadian figure skating reality show and competition that airs on CBC Television. The show originally aired for four seasons between 2009 and 2013. It was revived for a fifth season in 2019. It was first broadcast before a live audience at the historic Maple Leaf Gardens. With Maple Leaf Gardens under renovation however, the show was filmed at Pinewood Toronto Studios in season two. The venue moved again in season three to MasterCard Centre located in Etobicoke, Ontario. For the revived fifth season in 2019, the venue was at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. The venue changed again in the sixth season to the CAA Centre, located in Brampton, Ontario.

InSecurity is a Canadian spy comedy television series that aired on CBC Television from 2011 to 2012. The series centres on a team of covert operatives working for the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), a fictional Canadian intelligence service.
