"Water Forest" is Japanese singer-songwriter Rurutia's second album under the Toshiba EMI label. The album reached to No. 226 on Oricon and charted for a week.
Maaya Sakamoto is a Japanese actress, voice actress and singer. She made her debut as a voice actress in 1992 as the voice of Chifuru in Little Twins, but is better known as voice of Hitomi Kanzaki in The Vision of Escaflowne. J-pop, natively also known simply as pops, is a musical genre that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s. Modern J-pop has its roots in traditional Japanese music, but significantly in 1960s pop and rock music, such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys, which led to Japanese rock bands such as Happy End fusing rock with Japanese music in the early 1970s. Mai Kuraki is a Japanese pop and R&B singer-songwriter and record producer. Kuraki debuted in 1999 with the single, "Love, Day After Tomorrow". In 2000, she released her debut album, Delicious Way, which debuted at number-one and sold over 2,210,000 copies in its first week. Kuraki is one of a few female artists in Japan to have their first four studio albums to debut at top of the Oricon album chart.
Arashi is a Japanese boy band consisting of five members formed under the Johnny & Associates talent agency. The members are Ohno Satoshi, Sakurai Sho, Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari, and Matsumoto Jun. Arashi officially formed on September 15, 1999, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and made their debut CD on November 3, 1999. The group was initially signed to Pony Canyon and released one studio album and six singles—beginning with their 1999 eponymous debut single before moving to the Johnny's subsidiary label J Storm in 2001, which was initially set up for their succeeding releases. While their debut single sold close to a million copies, the group took a mixture of pop and alternate/contemporary approach to its music which attracted core followers, but subsequently faced commercially slow sales.
SMAP was a Japanese boy band, composed of Masahiro Nakai, Takuya Kimura, Goro Inagaki, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and Shingo Katori. The group was created in 1988 by music producer Johnny Kitagawa, founder of Johnny & Associates, originally as a six-piece with Katsuyuki Mori, until his departure from the band in 1996. After making their debut in 1991, the group took the Japanese entertainment industry by storm, becoming the most successful boy band in Japanese history and the bestselling band in Asia, often referred to as a "national treasure" and a "fortune and property of the country" in Japan.

After becoming interested in music early in life, she began singing and writing original songs. In 2006, she began uploading her music to Niconico and other websites. Between 2009 and 2011, Yanagi was the guest vocalist of the J-pop band Supercell. Yanagi released her solo debut single "Vidro Moyō" in February 2012, which is used as the ending theme to the anime Waiting in the Summer.

5x20 All the Best!! 1999–2019 is the fifth greatest hits album by Japanese boy band Arashi. It was released through J Storm on June 26, 2019. The album debuted at the top spot of the Oricon Weekly Albums chart, selling 1,304,251 copies in its first week of release in Japan. It spent the most weeks at number one of any album on the Oricon Albums Chart in 2019, with four, and was both the best-selling album of 2019 in Japan, as well as worldwide, with 3.3 million copies sold, eventually became the world's best-selling album of the year for 2019.
The COVID-19 pandemic in Japan is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The Japanese government confirmed its first outbreak of the disease in the country on 15 January 2020 in a resident of Kanagawa Prefecture who had returned from Wuhan, China. This was followed by a second outbreak that was introduced by travelling passengers and returnees from Europe and the United States between 11 March and 23 March. According to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (Japan), the majority of viruses spreading in Japan derive from the European type while those of the Wuhan type have been disappearing since March.
Kotoshi no Natsu wa More Better is the 12th studio album by Japanese singer/songwriter Chisato Moritaka, released on May 21, 1998 by zetima. The album was produced by veteran musician Haruomi Hosono and features cover versions of two of his songs. In addition, it includes "Summer Beach", a re-recording of "Natsu no Umi" from Moritaka's 1992 album Rock Alive. The album was also the first album since Mite to be released on LP format. During the time of the album's release, One Up Music merged with YJ Sounds to form zetima, and the label's distribution rights were changed from Warner Music Japan to Sony Music Entertainment Japan.
Blood on the Tracks is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Shūzō Oshimi. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior magazine since February 2017, and collected into eight tankōbon volumes as of April 2020.
