Miri is a coastal city in northeastern Sarawak, Malaysia, located near the border of Brunei, on the island of Borneo. The city covers an area of 997.43 square kilometres (385.11 sq mi), located 798 kilometres (496 mi) northeast of Kuching and 329 kilometres (204 mi) southwest of Kota Kinabalu. Miri is the second largest city in Sarawak, with a population of 234,541 as of 2010. The city is also the capital of Miri District of the Miri Division.
Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman bin Ya'kub was a Malaysian politician of Melanau descent from Mukah. He was the third Chief Minister of Sarawak and the fourth Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak. He is also an uncle of Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, since his (Taib's) mother Hajah Hamidah Ya'akub was his (Rahman's) eldest-born sibling.
The Baram River is a river in Sarawak on the island of Borneo. The river originates in the Kelabit Highlands, a watershed demarcated by the Iran Mountains of East Kalimantan, which form a natural border with Sarawak. The river flows westwards through tropical rainforest to the South China Sea. The Baram River terminates in a delta, which is subdivided into two units: East Barma Delta of Middle-Late Miocene age and West Baram Delta of Late Miocene-Quaternary age. The western unit is composed of mudstones enriched in organic components which constitute substantial oil and gas reserves.

Dato' Sri Richard Riot anak Jaem is a Malaysian politician. He is the incumbent seven-term Member of Parliament (MP) of Malaysia for Serian constituency in the state of Sarawak. He is appointed as Malaysia's special envoy to East Asia covering Japan, South Korea and Taiwan by Prime Minister of the federal ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, Muhyiddin Yassin in May 2020. Riot was previously the Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia in former Prime Minister Najib Razak's cabinet. He has also served as chairman of the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB). He is a member and deputy president of the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP); a component of Sarawak Parties Alliance (GPS).
The Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak is the highest state order in the state of Sarawak. It is conferred to those who rendered excellent service towards the development of the state of Sarawak and Malaysia. The Order was established in 1964, a year after the Sarawak's independence within the formation of Malaysia. The history of the order can be traced back to 1928, where a similar order named Order of the Star of Sarawak was established by the Brooke Raj. However, the revived order has no connection with the previous order, except for the similarity of the name of the order. The motto of the Order is based on the state motto and the current one was adopted in 1988. The design of the order ribbon was changed twice, first in 1973 and again in 1988. The design follows the colors of the Sarawak flag: blue, red and white, and yellow, black and red. Both the Officer of the Star of Sarawak (JBS) and Officer of the Star of Hornbill Sarawak (JBS) share the same necklace design.

Adenan bin Satem was the fifth Chief Minister of Sarawak, in office from 2014 to 2017. During his tenure as Chief Minister, Adenan held the position as the President of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), which is part of the Barisan Nasional coalition. He was of Malay descent. A popular figure known affectionately as "Tok Nan", he died in office on 11 January 2017.
