Franchise history
During their nearly ten years in operation, the club had achieved considerable success, climbing steadily through the ranks of the English Basketball League, culminating in the team winning the Men's Division Two title in the 2005/2006 season, earning them promotion to the top English division for the following year. To complement the success of the Men's team, a second Men's team was entered in Division Four (Midlands/South) for the following season, with a Women's team also being entered in Division Two (South) in 2007/2008. However, in October 2007 the Men's first team suddenly withdrew from the League due to financial problems, following the loss of a major sponsor. [2] Despite the loss of the flagship team, the club took steps to separate their Junior program to operate as a distinct organization to ensure their survival. Similar steps were taken with the Men's second team and the Women's team, allowing both to complete the 2007/2008 season, finishing in 4th and 7th place respectively. The Women's team disbanded shortly after, while the now-independent Men's team moved to Watford to begin a slow, nomadic period of re-invention. [3]

Hemel Stags are an amateur rugby league club based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. They were semi-professional and played in Betfred League 1 from 2013 until 2018. They withdrew from the professional system when their licence was purchased by Eric Perez and permission was granted by the RFL to relocate it, this would ultimately lead to Cornwall R.L.F.C. entering League 1. The extensive community rugby league teams at Hemel Stags were unaffected As such, Hemel Stags still ran an amateur team at the Southern Conference League East Division in the 2021 season

The Essex & Herts Leopards were an English semi-professional basketball club, based in Brentwood, Essex and St Albans, Hertfordshire. The Leopards competed in Division 1 of the English Basketball League. The team was established in 1997 as Ware Fire, but following the demise and eventual closure of the former British Basketball League franchise Essex Leopards in 2003, a supporters group known as 'Leopards Alive' merged with the Ware-based club and rebranded the team as Essex & Herts Leopards in 2004.
London 3 North West is a level 8 league within the RFU league structure and is made up of teams predominantly from north-west London and Hertfordshire. Promoted sides tend to move up to London 2 North West while relegated teams drop to Herts/Middlesex 1. Each year all clubs in the division also take part in the RFU Senior Vase - a level 8 national competition.
The South East Men's League is a division within rugby league's tier 4 and was previously a division of the Rugby League Conference. At the division is competed for by teams in the South East of England including London.
The East Rugby League is a tier 5 amateur rugby league competition structure with sides from the East of England. It was previously the East Division of the Rugby League Conference, which was set up in 1997.

It is organised by the London and South East Division Rugby Football Union and is the second division competition for clubs in Hertfordshire and parts of north-west London that traditionally was encompassed by the historic county of Middlesex. Each year some of the clubs in this division also take part in the RFU Junior Vase - a level 9-12 national competition.
Counties 1 Herts/Middlesex is a tier 7 English Rugby Union league. It is organised by the London and South East Division Rugby Football Union and is the top tier competition for clubs in Hertfordshire and parts of north-west London that traditionally was encompassed by the historic county of Middlesex. When it was formed ahead of the 1992–93 season it was known as Herts/Middlesex, changing to Herts/Middlesex 1 name by the 1996–97 season. After the restructuring of the English rugby union system ahead of the 2022-23 season, the league was renamed to Counties 1 Herts/Middlesex.
London 2 North West is an English rugby union league which is at the seventh tier of club rugby union in England and is made up of teams predominantly from north-west London and Hertfordshire. When this division began in 1987 it was known as London 3 North West, changing to its current name ahead of the 2009–10 season.
Hemel Storm are a British semi-professional basketball club from Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. Founded in 2006, the Storm compete in NBL Division 1, the second tier of the British basketball system, and play their home games at the Everyone Active Hemel Hempstead Sports Centre. The club had been based in several locations across Hertfordshire and north London before settling into their current, long-term home in 2010.
The Westminster Warriors are a basketball club based in the Westminster area of London. The club currently has a senior Men's team competing in the English Basketball League (EBL) Division 1, in addition to a senior Women's team playing in the local London league and junior teams at Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 levels. The club are based at Moberly Sports Centre, and take pride in having developed 5 Senior Men's England Internationals from within a 3 miles radius of their home venue.
The Southern Conference League is the fourth tier of the British rugby league system. It is the highest level of amateur rugby league outside of the heartlands in Northern England, thus operates in The Midlands, South England, and Wales. It was one of the many leagues that replaced the Rugby League Conference. The competition was first played between 2012 and 2016, and was relaunched in 2019 after a two-year hiatus.
The Hertfordshire Rugby Football Union is the governing body for the sport of rugby union in the county of Hertfordshire in England. The union is the constituent body of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) for Hertfordshire, and administers and organises rugby union clubs and competitions in the county. It also administers the Hertfordshire county rugby representative teams.
The Hertfordshire presidents' Trophy is an annual rugby union knock-out club competition organised by the Hertfordshire Rugby Football Union. It was first introduced during the 1999–00 season, with the inaugural winners being Datchworth. It is the third most important rugby union cup competition in Hertfordshire, behind the Hertfordshire presidents' Cup and Hertfordshire presidents' Tankard.
Hertfordshire 1 was an English level 10 Rugby Union league with teams from Hertfordshire and parts of north London taking part. Promoted teams used to move up to Herts/Middlesex 1 and relegation was to Hertfordshire 2 until that division was cancelled at the end of the 1989–90 season. The division was cancelled in at the end of the 1995–96 campaign after nine seasons due to the merger of the Hertfordshire and Middlesex regional leagues.
