Steven Serio is a wheelchair basketball player. As a co-captain of the USA Men's National Wheelchair Basketball Team, he led the American men to their first Paralympic gold medal since 1988 at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games and defended the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. He currently plays for the New York Rolling Knicks in the NWBA Championship Division.
The 4th Parapan American Games took place from November 12 to 20 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The Games are an international multi-sport event for athletes with a physical disability. The Games were held 20 days after the 2011 Pan American Games began. The opening and closing ceremonies were produced by FiveCurrents.
The 2015 Parapan American Games, officially the V Parapan American Games and commonly known as the Toronto 2015 ParaPan-Am Games, were a major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities, celebrated in the tradition of the Parapan American Games as governed by the Americas Paralympic Committee, held from August 7 to 15, 2015 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Marking the first Parapan American games hosted by Canada, and the second major Paralympic sports event hosted by Toronto since the 1976 Summer Paralympics, the Games were held at venues in Toronto and four other Golden Horseshoe communities. Both the Parapan American and Pan American Games were organized by the Toronto 2015 Organizing Committee (TO2015).
Wheelchair tennis was contested at the 2011 Parapan American Games from November 13 to 18 at the Telcel Tennis Complex in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Mackenzie Soldan is an American wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis player. She represented the United States at the 2011 Parapan American Games where she won two gold medals, 2012 London Paralympics in wheelchair tennis and 2016 Rio Paralympics in wheelchair basketball. She has played for the U.S. women's wheelchair basketball team since 2013.
Cindy Ouellet is a Canadian Paralympic wheelchair basketball player.
Tracey Ferguson is a Canadian Paralympic wheelchair basketball player. She has won several gold medals including at three different Paralympic Games.
Rebecca Murray is an American former wheelchair basketball player. She is a two-time Parapan American Games gold medalist in both 2007 and 2011. In 2010, she won two more gold medals at IWBF World Championship and at U25 World Championship in 2011.
Elaine Allard is a Canadian 1.5 point wheelchair basketball player who won a bronze medal at the 2010 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship in Birmingham, and gold at the 2014 Women's World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Toronto.
Maude Jacques is a Canadian 2.5 point Paralympic wheelchair basketball player who won a gold medal at the 2014 Women's World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Toronto.
Joey Johnson is a professional Canadian wheelchair basketball player. He has competed in several Paralympics and World Championships and was also the first disabled athlete to be inducted in Manitoba's Basketball Hall of Fame.
Brandon Wagner is a Canadian wheelchair basketball player from Kitchener, Ontario. He began playing wheelchair basketball in 2002 and joined the U23 junior national team in 2005. In 2007 he won a silver medal at the Parapan American Games in Rio de Janeiro. A year later, he supported University of Illinois toward collegiate championship win. In 2009, he was named Student-Athlete of the Year at his alma-mater and two years later won bronze at the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. In 2012 he participated at his first Olympics in London where he won gold.
Rosalie Lalonde is a Canadian 3.0 point wheelchair basketball player who won a silver medal at the 2015 Parapan American Games in Toronto. In 2016, she was selected as part of the team for the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro
The United States men's national wheelchair basketball team began in 1955 when the Pam Am Jets brought wheelchair basketball to Europe at the International Stoke Mandville Games, albeit in the form of netball. Shortly following the Pan Am Jets' dominating performance at the International Stoke Mandville Games, wheelchair netball was switched to wheelchair basketball for all future Games.
The 2003 Parapan American Games, officially the II Pan American Games, were a major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities, celebrated in the tradition of the Parapan American Games as governed by the Americas Paralympic Committee in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Over 1,500 athletes from 28 countries competed in the games. The games served as a qualifier for the 2004 Summer Paralympics. For the second time, the Parapan American Games were held in the same year but at a different location than the Pan American Games; however, the games were initially supposed to be held in the Dominican Republic, but they were unable to host them. This was the last year that the two events would be held in different cities, as the 2007 Parapan American Games and 2007 Pan American Games were both held in Rio de Janeiro.
Rose Hollermann is an American 3.5 point wheelchair basketball player who won gold at the 2011 Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship in St. Catharines, Canada, the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, the 2015 Parapan American Games in Toronto, Canada, the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the 2019 Women's U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship in Suphanburi, Thailand.

Wheelchair basketball was played at the 2019 Parapan American Games. The two finalists in the women's tournament and the three medalists in the men's tournament qualified for the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
The United States women's national wheelchair basketball team began in the mid-1960s. The first women's team to compete alongside men in the Paralympic Games was in the inaugural 1968 tournament. A few years later in 1977, a women's wheelchair basketball division was created in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA).
Darlene Hunter is an American wheelchair basketball player. She is a member of the United States women's national wheelchair basketball team.
