White Fox is the second album by Irish band Ham Sandwich. It was released on 1 October 2010 and has received generally favourable reviews. It is the band's first album without bassist and principal songwriter John Moore, who departed the band earlier in the year. [3]

Production and release

Having taken a break following the release of Carry the Meek and the resulting tour, Ham Sandwich released their first new material on 9 November 2009, in the form of the single "Out of the Darkness". [5] On 12 April 2010 bassist and songwriter John Moore announced he was leaving the band. [3] The band decided to continue on with work on their new album, with plans to begin recording in late-July. However, the band's manager, Derek Nally, died on 15 July 2010, just days before the band were due to begin recording. [6] Deciding to continue on as planned, White Fox was recorded, mixed and mastered in just three months. [1] Recording took place at Sun Studios in Temple Bar and at May Lodge in County Meath. [2] The album was produced by Karl Odlum, who had previously produced the band's debut album. Odlum also played the bass parts on the album, filling in for the recently departed Moore. [1] The album was mastered by Peter Mew at Abbey Road Studios in England. [2]

White Fox was released on 1 October 2010. As with all previous releases, it was released independently on the band's own Route 109A Records label. Several singles were released from the album, the most successful of which was "Ants". Although it failed to chart, the song received considerable radio play and the accompanying video won the Best Concept award at the 2011 IMTV Awards. [7] [8]

Originally a member of Kíla, a band which was founded during his schooldays at Coláiste Eoin, he left them and joined rock group The Frames, fronted by the Academy Award-winner Glen Hansard, and with whom he played guitar from 1990 until 2002. Since leaving the band, he has pursued a career as a music producer. Odlum has established a long running association with singer-songwriter Gemma Hayes, producing her Mercury Prize-nominated debut album Night on My Side, as well as later albums The Hollow of Morning, Let It Break and an as-yet untitled fifth album due in 2014. Stories from the Surface is the third album from Irish rock band Ham Sandwich. It was released in Ireland on 17 April 2015, and was produced by the band's long-time collaborator Karl Odlum. "Illuminate" was the band's first single to chart in Ireland, reaching 43 in the Irish music charts. The album has received mostly positive reviews in the band's native Ireland and went straight to first place in the Irish charts on its first week of release, becoming the band's first album to reach the top 20.

He has released five studio albums; Busy Whisper (2009), In Movement (2012) and Idiot Songs (2013) which was a concept album based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's 'The Idiot' in collaboration with composer Justin Grounds.
