Whom Gods Destroy is an American progressive metal supergroup, formed in 2023 by former Sons of Apollo members, Derek Sherinian (keyboards) and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (guitar), alongside vocalist Dino Jelusick, bassist Yas Nomura and drummer Bruno Valverde (Angra). Sherinian and Thal started writing music together in 2020, but the project was not officially formed until after Sons of Apollo split up in 2023, with the project's debut album finished in June that year. The band was announced on Facebook on November 21, 2023, [2] with Jelusick being announced on November 26, [3] Normura on December 3, [4] and Valverde on December 6. [5] On December 12, they signed to German prog label InsideOut Music. [6]

Their debut album, Insanium , was released on March 15, 2024. [7] The first single from the album, "In The Name Of War", was released January 12, 2024, with an accompanying video directed by Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films. Their second single was “Over Again”, on February 7. [8]

Derek Sherinian is an American keyboardist of Armenian descent who has toured and recorded for Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, and Joe Bonamassa, among others. He was also a member of Dream Theater from 1994 to 1999, is the founder of Planet X and also one of the founding members of Black Country Communion, Sons of Apollo, and Whom Gods Destroy. He has released nine solo albums that have featured a variety of prominent guest musicians, including guitarists Slash, Yngwie Malmsteen, Allan Holdsworth, Steve Lukather, Joe Bonamassa, Michael Schenker, Steve Vai and Al Di Meola, and extensively drummer Simon Phillips.

<i>Black Utopia</i> 2003 studio album by Derek Sherinian

Black Utopia is the third solo album by keyboard player Derek Sherinian. In addition to the returning members Zakk Wylde, Simon Phillips and Steve Lukather, three new musicians joined Sherinian: bass guitarist Billy Sheehan and guitarists Yngwie Malmsteen – with whom Sherinian had toured in 2001 – and Al Di Meola. "One of the highlights of my career was flying to Miami to produce Yngwie, and the next day Al Di Meola - all for my record!" The song "Axis Of Evil",, has Zakk Wylde and Yngwie Malmsteen in a guitar duel. Black Utopia was the beginning of an ongoing collaboration with drummer Brian Tichy, and album cover artist Mattias Noren. Black Utopia is Sherinian's best selling solo record to date.

Ronald Jay Blumenthal, better known by his stage name Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal or simply Bumblefoot, is an American guitarist, songwriter, and producer. He adopted his nickname from the bacterial infection of the same name, which he learned about while helping his wife study for her veterinary exams. The name went from being just the name of an album, to the name of a record label, to a band name, to eventually his name as a solo artist. He was one of two lead guitarists in Guns N' Roses from 2006 until 2014 and performed on their sixth studio album Chinese Democracy. He was the guitarist for the supergroup Sons of Apollo and currently with supergroup Whom Gods Destroy; and served as the guitarist and vocalist for the band Asia from 2019 to 2022.

Dino Jelusić, also known by his stage name Dino Jelusick, is a Croatian singer, musician, and songwriter. He was the winner of the inaugural edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in 2003. He is the founder, principal songwriter, and lead singer of the progressive rock band Animal Drive, which was formed in 2012 and disbanded in 2021. Since 2016, Jelusick has been a touring member for the American rock band Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and in 2021, he joined Whitesnake. Psychotic Symphony is the debut studio album by American supergroup Sons of Apollo. It was released on October 20, 2017. The album was produced by drummer Mike Portnoy and keyboardist Derek Sherinian under the name "The Del Fuvio Brothers" a nickname they adopted during their time together in Dream Theater. All band members were involved in the creation of the songs. Portnoy and Sherinian were the main songwriters. The album was released as CD, digital download, vinyl and a special edition containing a bonus disc with instrumental versions of the songs and an alternate mix of "Opus Maximus." The band began touring to promote the album in early 2018.
