Jayquan Cutler (born November 9, 1991), better known by his stage name Why Cue, is an American rapper and record producer from New York City. [1] He first gained recognition for his work with former Jive Records artist Lil B. [1]

Early life

Jayquan Cutler was born November 9, 1991 in Peekskill, New York. [2] At age 11, Cutler started writing music on cassette tapes under the moniker Young Quan. [2] [3]

Career

Cutler was encouraged to pursue a career in music by his stepfather who was a DJ. [2] [3] Lacking the funds to purchase professional recording equipment, Cutler stole a microphone from his high school to record his first album. [2] In 2010, Cutler responded to a mass tweet from Lil B that said "I need beats". [3] This lead Cutler to produce the track "Out The Hood" by Lil B off the latter's Red Flame mixtape. [4] Cutler first received national radio airplay on New York City's Hot 97 as a featured artist on Roswell Gray's track "I Get Around" which also featured D4L's Shawty Lo. [5] In 2019, Cutler dropped his debut independent project Xxotic. [6] [7] The lead single "Cappin Alert" was featured in Hip-Hop Weekly, DJ Enuff and The Source. [8] [9]
