Oadby and Wigston is a local government district and borough in the English county of Leicestershire. It was formed in 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, from the merger of the Oadby and Wigston urban districts. The population of the district at the 2011 census was 56,170. The district forms part of the Harborough constituency.

Kettering Town Football Club is a football club based in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. They are currently members of the National League North, the sixth tier of English football, and play at Latimer Park in nearby Burton Latimer. Kettering were the first club to wear sponsorship upon their shirts in 1976, and as of 2015, were the leading FA Cup goalscorers of all time.
Richard Dixey is an English former professional footballer who played as a central defender. He began his career in amateur football before joining Burnley in 1974, although he failed to establish himself at the club and was later loaned out to Stockport County during the 1975–76 season. After being released by Burnley in the summer of 1976, Dixey moved into non-League football and represented a number of clubs including Kettering Town, where he was a losing FA Trophy finalist in 1979, Scarborough and Nuneaton Borough.
The Leicestershire Church Football League, established in 1986, is a men's football competition for church-based teams in Leicestershire, England. It is one of the six Saturday leagues affiliated to the Leicestershire & Rutland County Football Association. Elim Pentecostal Leicester FC have been the most successful club, with 10 league titles and six league cups. Under league rules, the teams must field at least seven players who regularly attend church. The league now has only one division, containing nine teams, but during the seasons from 1990 to 1991 to 2008–09, there were two divisions.
The East Midlands Regional Women's Football League is at the fifth and sixth levels of the English women's football pyramid, with the seven other Regional Leagues – Eastern, London & SE, Southern, South West, West Mids, North East and North West. The East Midlands Regional Women's Football League feeds directly into the Midland Combination Women's Football League, and lies above the Leicestershire Women's Football League, Lincolnshire Women's Football League, Northamptonshire Women's Football League, Nottinghamshire Women's Football League and the Derbyshire Girls & Ladies League in the pyramid. South Leicester Rugby Football Club is an English rugby union team based in Wigston, Leicestershire - just south of Leicester. The club runs two senior sides, plus a colts side and a full set of junior teams. The first XV were playing in the Midlands Premier, the fifth tier of the English rugby union system, following their relegation from National League 2 North at the end of the 2018-19 season, however, due to a run of bad results and a number of players leaving the club, they have withdrawn from the Midlands Premier.
Wigston College is a coeducational upper school and sixth form located in Wigston Magna in the English county of Leicestershire. The college forms part of the Wigston Academies Trust, together with neighbouring Wigston Academy.
Hinckley Association Football Club is a football club, from Hinckley, Leicestershire, who play home games at Ibstock's Welfare Park. The club was formed in January 2014 when fans of the dissolved Hinckley United formed their own Community Trust football club, owned and democratically run by its supporters. The club competes in the Midland League Division One.
Leicester Road Football Club is a football club based in Hinckley, England. Formed on 4 November 2013 after the liquidation of Hinckley United the previous month, they are currently members of the Midland League Division One and play at the Leicester Road Stadium.
