On 10 June 2021, at the Diamond League, Ingebrigtsen set a new European record in the 5000 m with his time of 12:48.45. On 12 October 2019, he was the youngest pacemaker in the successful sub-2 hour marathon attempt by Eliud Kipchoge. As of 2021 Jakob is the 8th, 6th, 9th and 12th fastest man over the 1500m, 2000m, 3000m and 5000m respectively. He also holds the distinction of being one of only two men to run a sub-3:30 1500m, sub-7:30 3000m and a sub-12:50 5000m along with 3000m and 2 mile world record holder Daniel Komen. Jakob Ingebristen is also a star in a Norwegian reality show called Team Ingebrigtsen, which revolves around him and his brothers and shows the trials and tribulations that come in middle distance running.

Miguel Santiago "Mike" Roche is an American middle-distance runner. He competed in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Roche was an 1975 NCAA All-American in the 3000 steeplechase while attending Rutgers University. He was ranked in the top 10 US Steeplechasers from 1975 to 1980. In 1978, Roche was a member of the silver medal-winning US International Cross Country team competing in Glasgow, Scotland. On July 4, 1978, Roche beat 12,000 runners at the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, GA, setting a new course record (28:59)in the process. In March 1981, Roche established a new American Record for 10 miles with a time of 46:57 at Cherry Hill, NJ. The record would stand for 2 years.
