William A. Osborn (born 1947) is an American bank executive.

William A. Osborn was graduated from Northwestern University in 1969, [1] and from its Kellogg School of Management in 1973. [2] He joined Northern Trust in 1970, and spent the rest of his career at the Chicago, Illinois institution. Eventually he headed the commercial banking and personal financial Services business units, and became president and chief operating officer in December 1993. He was chairman and CEO of Northern Trust Corporation multibank holding company and the Northern Trust Company bank from 1995 through 2007. [3] Other directorships include Caterpillar Inc., Nicor Inc. and the Tribune Company. Osborn has been a director of Caterpillar since 2000. Osborn was appointed to the board of General Dynamics (military weapons maker). [4] In 2011, he became chairman of the board of trustees of Northwestern University, [5] replacing Patrick G. Ryan. [2]

Awards

William A. Osborn was inducted as a laureate of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois and awarded the Order of Lincoln (the state's highest honor) by the governor of Illinois in 2006 in the area of business and social service. [6]

Glenn Tilton is a retired American oil and airline industry executive. Tilton spent most of his career working for Texaco, and as CEO guided its merger with Chevron Oil in 2001. He was Chairman, President, and CEO of UAL Corporation from 2002-2010. He stayed on as non-executive Chairman of United Continental Holdings Inc., (NYSE:UAL), the parent company of the merged United Airlines, Inc. and Continental Airlines, Inc. from October 1, 2010 until 2012. Tilton was Midwest Chairman and a member of the Executive Committee at JP Morgan Chase (NYSE:JPM), from June 6, 2011 until his retirement in June, 2014.

Patrick G. Ryan is an American billionaire insurance businessman. He is the founder and retired chairman and CEO of Aon Corporation. In 2010, he founded Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) as a holding company aimed at providing specialty services to insurance brokers, agents and carriers. RSG's first subsidiary, ThinkRisk, began business in December 2009 to provide underwriting and claims management services for media, technology, advertising and network security.

The Lincoln Academy of Illinois

The Lincoln Academy of Illinois is a not-for-profit and non-partisan organization dedicated to recognizing contributions made by living Illinoisans. Named for Abraham Lincoln, the Academy administers the Order of Lincoln, the highest award given by the U.S. state of Illinois. Each year several people are presented the award at a ceremony presided over by the Academy President, the Governor of Illinois. The organization also gives an annual Student Laureate award to one student from each four-year degree-granting institution of higher learning in Illinois, as well as one student from the state's community colleges.
