Anderson Marsh State Historic Park is a California State Historic Park and nature reserve preserving a tule marsh,archaeological sites of the Pomo people,and historic ranch structures. It is located in Lake County,California,United States. Anderson Marsh is located at the head of Cache Creek on the southeast corner of Clear Lake,the largest natural lake completely within the borders of California. The park is between the cities of Lower Lake and Clearlake on State Route 53,north of Calistoga in the wine country. The park is open year-round.
Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is a marine reserve in California on the Pacific Ocean,located just north of Pillar Point Harbor and Mavericks in the San Mateo County community of Moss Beach. Moss Beach is located approximately 20 miles (32 km) south of San Francisco and 50 miles (80 km) north of Santa Cruz. The reserve is a 32-acre (0.13 km2) holding which extends from Montara light station at the north to Pillar Point on the south. The reserve consists of a three-mile stretch of beach,tidepool habitat,marsh,erosive bluffs,clifftop trail and cypress and eucalyptus forests. The property is owned by the State of California and managed by San Mateo County as a county park and nature preserve. The reserve is administratively assigned to be part of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Adjacent to and possibly within the reserve is an endangered species of butterfly,the San Bruno elfin butterfly.

Richardson Bay is a shallow,ecologically rich arm of San Francisco Bay,managed under a Joint Powers Agency of four northern California cities. John Marsh,later known in Spanish as Don Juan Marsh,was a physician,ranchero,and linguist in California when it was still part of the Republic of Mexico. Born in Massachusetts,Marsh immigrated to California in 1836,where he became a Mexican citizen. He was baptized as Roman Catholic in order to buy land,and acquired the vast land grant of Rancho Los Méganos in Contra Costa. He became one of the wealthiest ranchers in California,and was among the highly influential men who worked to gain United States statehood after Mexico ceded this area following its defeat in the Mexican-American War.
The Fairfield Osborn Preserve is a 450-acre nature reserve situated on the northwest flank of Sonoma Mountain in Sonoma County,California. There are eight plant communities within the property,oak woodland being the dominant type. Other communities include chaparral,Douglas fir woodland,native Bunch grass,freshwater marsh,vernal pool,pond and riparian woodland. The flora is extremely diverse including many native trees,shrubs,wildflowers,grasses,lichens and mosses. A diverse fauna inhabits this area including black-tailed deer,coyote,bobcat and an occasional mountain lion;moreover,there are abundant avifauna,amphibians,reptiles and insects.
