Simon St. Quentin Whitfield is a Canadian retired Olympic triathlon champion. Whitfield won ten consecutive Canadian Triathlon Championships titles and carried the Canadian national flag during the 2000 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in Sydney, where he had won his gold medal, and the opening ceremony at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, making him one of few Canadian athletes to be honoured twice as Olympic flag bearer.

He had set the world record for the long distance in Roth, Germany in 2016 with 7:35:39 hours. Vincent Luis is a French professional triathlete. Besides his many WTS wins and his participation in the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, he won the ITU World Championship in 2019 and 2020, and the Mixed Relay Team World Championship with the French national team in 2015, 2018 and 2019. He won the Junior World Championship and Junior European Championship in 2008, as well as multiple French national titles over the years.

Lukas Verzbicas is an American triathlete. Once a prominent high school track and cross country runner, Verzbicas set the U.S. high school national record in the two mile with a time of 8:29.46, in June 2011 after graduating from high school the month prior. He was also the fifth American high school boy to run a sub four-minute mile, running 3:59.71 a week after setting the national record in the two mile.

The World Triathlon Championship Series is an annual series of triathlon events organised by World Triathlon. The series is used to crown an annual world champion since 2008. Previously, the ITU world champion between 1989 and 2008 had been decided in a single annual championship race.
Brant Garvey is an Australian leg amputee paratriathlete. He represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics when paratriathlon made its debut at the Paralympics.
