The Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum also known as Woodhall Spa. (Cottage Museum, Woodall Spa,) [1] is a community museum managed by volunteers, and located on Iddesleigh Road, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, England. The museum documents the history of Woodhall Spa's development as a 19th-century spa town designed by Richard Adolphus Came. [2]
The museum was inaugurated in 1987 and consists of a bungalow constructed of corrugated galvanised iron laid on a timber frame. [3] [4] The building was shipped to Woodhall Spa as a flat pack. [5]
The cottage, erected in 1887, was chosen from the models available in the catalogue of Boulton & Paul Ltd, a leading manufacturer of corrugated iron buildings, which were in vogue in the era. [3] An unusual example of such a cottage is that it's still standing in well-preserved condition. [3]
The cottage was built by John and Mary Wield, employees of Woodhull Spa. [3] The Wields were in the business of providing rides in Bath chairs drawn by donkeys to carry visitors between the spa's health baths and hotels. [6] John Wield created a photographic record of the then new Victorian spa community at Woodhall Spa. Today, his photographic collection forms the basis of the Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum collection. The bungalow was the home of the Wield family from 1887 to the 1960s. [7]
John Wield's collection of photographs and ephemera were offered in the early 1980s to the community of Woodhall Spa to put on public display. Not long after that, in 1985, John Wield's bungalow came on the market and, in 1986, a trust was formed to set up the Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum.
The local tourist information centre is housed within the museum. [8]
In 2011, the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded a grant of £677,600 to be used to refurbish the building, update the exhibits, and fund programs. [6] The project reflected the need to remove several small, wooden outbuildings (an old donkey stable, workshop and photography studio) that had been damaged by arson. [9]

Woodhall Spa railway station was a station in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire on a small branch line running north from Woodhall Junction to Horncastle. Both the station and the line are now closed.
Weelsby Road Halt was a railway halt on the East Lincolnshire Railway which served the Weelsby Road area of eastern Grimsby in Lincolnshire between 1905 and 1940. The station was opened as part of a new motor train service between Grimsby and Louth. It was the site of major works in 1933 when a plate girder bridge was constructed to replace a level crossing, enabling road traffic to pass underneath through a subway. The station closed in 1952 following a period of temporary closure during the Second World War. The line through Weelsby remained open for freight until December 1980. The trackbed was later reused by Humberside County Council to construct the A16 Peaks Parkway which now runs through the site. Building of the road put an end to the aspirations of the Great Northern and East Lincolnshire Railway plc to reopen the line as a heritage railway.

St Hugh's School is a coeducational, preparatory school in the village of Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, England, founded in 1925. It was originally known as a boarding school, although a significant proportion of its students are now day pupils or flexi-boarders. The headmaster is Jeremy Wyld, who has been in post since September 2019.
Richard Adolphus Came was an architect who initially worked in London. He gained commissions over a wide area of south-eastern England and according to one source these included "boarding schools, private residences, country houses in Lancing, East Grinstead, Tunbridge Wells, Broadstairs, Ealing, Child's Hill, Hampstead, Winkfield and Windsor." He also designed warehouses in Cannon Street, Cheapside, Bread Street and the German Athenæum Club at 19 Stratford Place in London, as well as electric light stations in Pall Mall, St. James, Richmond and Preston. Came was also a surveyor laying out building developments and acted as a property developer, owning and selling some of the buildings. Two of his major developments were connected with horse racing. At Newmarket he developed two areas of the town and at Ascot he designed most of the residences facing the racecourse.
