Xt3.com was a Catholic social networking service and news site, established for the 2008 World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia. The name stands for "Christ in the Third Millennium" and is operated by the Archdiocese of Sydney, with the support of Archbishop Cardinal George Pell.

Xt3.com has around 70,000 members from all over the world.

The website states that it supports Pope Benedict XVI's view of world communications, which embraces new technologies, new relationships, and promotes a culture of respect, dialogue and friendship, in an environment promoting truth and authenticity of life in the digital age. Xt3 reinforces the 2012 Message for World Communications Day, in which the Pope calls for authentic questions, reflection and contemplation. [1]

The site was named "Best Website for a Publication" at the annual Australian Catholic Press Association Awards for Excellence in Adelaide on 8 September 2011. [2] Their project 'The Adventures of Saint John Paul the Great' video game won 'Best Use of Electronic Media' in 2018.

In 2019, it was announced that after 11 years of operation, Xt3.com would close on July 31, 2019.

Catholic resources

Xt3 is content-driven website, and features an expanding library of videos, audio interviews, podcasts, print articles, and messages from the Vatican. [3] Other features include a Prayer Wall, Ask a Priest and a special section called iActiv8, which has information about World Youth Day, to be held next in Rio de Janeiro in 2013. [4]

Xt3 has also released Smartphone Apps for iPhone and Android devices, including an Advent Calendar App in 2011 [5] and 2012, [6] as well as an App for the season of Lent in 2012. [7]

In October 2012, Xt3 launched an online Youth Ministry library, allowing youth ministers from around to world to access Catholic resources free of charge. [8] And in December 2012, the xt3 team produced a 'Gangnam Style' Advent video, which has received over 15,000 hits on YouTube since it was released on 29 November 2012. [9] This video was featured as an Advent resource on the Vatican youth website pope2you.net. [10]

Webcasts

Xt3.com hosted the first live webcast of a Catholic church event, live streaming the Official Handover of the WYD Cross and Icon in Rome, on Palm Sunday 2009. [11] Since this date, Xt3 has streamed other major events, including the canonisation of Mary MacKillop in 2010, the Beatification of John Paul II in 2011, World Youth Day Madrid in 2011, and the Official Opening of Domus Australia on 19 October 2011, with Pope Benedict XVI. Xt3 will be webcasting all the events from World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro from 22–29 July 2013. [13] The webcast will be hosted on Xt3's live portal Xt3.com/wydlive.

This meeting was decided by the previous pope, John Paul II, during the Toronto World Youth Day of 2002. The theme was "We have come to worship Him".

Manga Hero is an American publisher based in San Rafael, California that publishes graphic novels influence by Japanese manga. The company's stories typically involve heroic characters that usually come from a Jewish or Christian background. Manga Hero's current publications include Paul: Tarsus to Redemption, written by Matthew Salisbury and Gabrielle Gniewek, as well as Judith: Captive to Conqueror and Many Are Called both written by Gabrielle Gniewek. The writers are from John Paul the Great Catholic University in San Diego. Sean Lam illustrated both series and lives in Singapore. Sean also illustrated a single volume comic titled It Takes a Wizard published by Seven Seas Entertainment in 2009. The organizers of World Youth Day 2011 recently announced that Manga Hero will launch a special comic titled Habemus Papam! where 300,000 copies will be distributed during the event in Madrid. This comic chronicles the life of Pope Benedict XVI and will be published in English and Spanish. Manga Hero hired Regina Doman in 2012 to write a more detailed graphic novel biography of Pope Benedict XVI, also illustrated by Sean Lam, based on the World Youth Day 2011 book and also titled Habemus Papam! In 2014, the publisher developed a full color graphic novel about Pope Francis written by Regina Doman and illustrated by Sean Lam. Manga Hero is also developing graphic novels on Pope John Paul II and Maximilian Kolbe.

Sean Lam is a Singaporean graphic novel artist. He is best known for his two part graphic novel adaption of New York Times bestselling Larry Niven's sci-fi novel Ringworld and a 32-page Pope Benedict manga comic where 300,000 copies were distributed for World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid.
