Beşiktaş is a district and municipality of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 18 km2, and its population is 175,190 (2022). It is located on the European shore of the Bosphorus strait. It is bordered on the north by Sarıyer and Şişli, on the west by Kağıthane and Şişli, on the south by Beyoğlu, and on the east by the Bosphorus. Directly across the Bosphorus is the district of Üsküdar.
Bağcılar is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 23 km2, and its population is 740,069 (2022). It is located on the European side of Istanbul, near the city centre, just north of Bahçelievler, between the two major ring roads, TEM and D100. The district is the fourth most populous in the Istanbul Municipality. Bağcılar developed rapidly between the 1970s and 1990s and is primarily residential in nature. The neighborhood is served by the Istanbul Metro and the T1 line of the Istanbul Tram. The mayor is Abdullah Özdemir from the Justice and Development Party, elected in April 2022.
The Istanbul Metro is a rapid transit railway network that serves the city of Istanbul, Turkey. Apart from the M11 line, which is operated by TCDD Taşımacılık, the system is operated by Metro Istanbul, a public enterprise controlled by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The oldest section of the metro is the M1 line, which opened in 1989. As of January 2024, the system now includes 138 stations in service, with 55 more under construction.
Mecidiyeköy is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Şişli, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its population is 20,006 (2022). It is a heavily built-up residential and business neighbourhood, squeezed in between the Fulya, Kuştepe, Gültepe, Esentepe, and Gülbahar neighbourhoods.
Line M5, officially referred to as the M5 Üsküdar–Çekmeköy line, is a rapid transit line of the Istanbul Metro System. It is colored deep purple on the maps and route signs. M5 is the second rapid transit line on the Asian side of İstanbul, the other in service since August 2012, the M4. Furthermore, it is the first driverless rapid transit line in Turkey.
The M3, officially referred to as the M3 Kirazli–Kayaşehir Merkez Metro Line, is a 18-kilometre (11 mi), 13-station rapid transit line of the Istanbul Metro system on the European part of Istanbul, Turkey. It operates between Kirazlı-Bağcılar, extending the service of the M1B line from Yenikapı, to Kayaşehir Merkez. The M3-line is colored light blue on station signs, route signs and the official rapid transit network map.
The M7, officially referred to as the M7 Yıldız–Mahmutbey metro line is a rapid transit line of the Istanbul Metro system on the European part of Istanbul, Turkey. It is colored light pink on the maps and route signs. It is the first driverless rapid transit line of the European side of Istanbul.
Şişli - Mecidiyeköy Metro Station (M2) is an underground metro station on the M2 line of the Istanbul metro and put into service on September 16, 2000.
The T1, officially referred to as the T1 Kabataş–Bağcılar tram line is a tram line of the Istanbul Tram, operated by Metro Istanbul. It runs from Kabataş to Bağcılar via Eminönü, with a total length of 19.3 km (12.0 mi).
Line M11, officially referred to as the M11 Gayrettepe–Istanbul Airport–Halkalı Metro Line, is a line of the Istanbul Metro. As of January 2024, it is operational between Gayrettepe and Istanbul Airport. The line is currently 37,5 km long, making it the longest line in the Istanbul Metro.
Mahmutbey is an underground station on the M3 and M7 lines of the Istanbul Metro in Bağcılar, Istanbul. The station is located beneath Bosna Avenue in the Göztepe neighborhood of Bağcılar. Mahmutbey was opened on 14 June 2013 along with the Kirazlı-MetroKent portion of the M3.
Line M13, officially referred to as the M13 Söğütlüçeşme–Yenidoğan line, is a rapid transit line of the Istanbul Metro system, currently planned in the Asian part of Istanbul, Turkey.
Kağıthane is an interchange station on the M7 and M11 lines of the Istanbul Metro. The M7 platform located above ground on the metro viaducts crossing the Kağıthane Creek, while the M11 platform is in underground. The M7 platform of the complex opened in 28 October 2020, and the M11 platform opened in 22 January 2023.
The M2 line, also referred as Üçyol–Çamlıkule Line is a planned ATO rapid transit line in İzmir, Turkey. The line has a total length of 11.3 km (7.0 mi) and would begin at Üçyol and run southeast into Buca. When completed, the line will become the sixth driverless metro line in Turkey, and the first in Izmir, after the M5, M7, M8, M12 and M14 lines in Istanbul. Construction started in February 14, 2022 and the line is expected to enter service in 2026. It will cost $765 million, and the yearly expected profit from operation is $45 million.
Çekmeköy is an underground station on the M5 line of the Istanbul Metro in Çekmeköy. The station is located on Şile Highway in the Mehmet Akif neighborhood of Çekmeköy. Connection to IETT city buses is available at street level.
Çağlayan is an underground station on the M7 line of the Istanbul Metro in Kağıthane. The station is located on Abide-i Hürriyet Street in the Çağlayan neighborhood of Kağıthane.
Nurtepe is an underground station on the M7 line of the Istanbul Metro in Kağıthane. The station is located on Sokollu Street in the Nurtepe neighborhood of Kağıthane.
Alibeyköy is a metro station on the M7 line of the Istanbul Metro in Eyüpsultan. The station is located on Atatürk Street in the Alibeyköy neighborhood of Eyüpsultan.
Istanbul's Central Business District as the real estate industry refers to it, is not the historic city center, but a 7-km-long north–south corridor of modern areas mostly along Barbaros Boulevard and Büyükdere Avenue. As of late 2021, 33% of the Class A office space in the metropolitan area was located in the CBD, of which about 790,000 sqm in Maslak, 690,000 sqm in Levent, 500,000 sqm in Zincirlikuyu/Esentepe/Gayrettepe and 100,000 sqm in Etiler.
Fulya is an underground station on the M7 line of the Istanbul Metro in Beşiktaş. The station is located on Gönenoğlu Street in the Gayrettepe neighborhood of Beşiktaş. Unlike the name suggests, it is not located in or nearby the Fulya neighborhood of Şişli.
