Y S School is an English-medium, co-educational school in the Barnala district of Punjab, India, founded in 1975 on the initiative of the Young Scholars Group for secondary schooling. It runs classes from nursery to 10th Standard.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) since 1995.

Tapa is a small town or city and a municipal council and administrative area in Barnala district in the Indian state of Punjab. Tapa is mainly known as Tapa-Mandi because Mandi word can be translated as grain market. As Tapa has been very famous for its grain market, many people from near villages come here to sell their crops and grains. He was Senior Vice President and Member, High Power Committee of Shiromani Akali Dal. He was also a Member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. He also served as acting president of Shiromani Akali Dal after Surjit Singh Barnala when Barnala was appointed as Governor of Tamil Nadu in 1989.

He first won the Legislative Assembly elections from the Aam Aadmi Party in 2017 by defeating the Indian National Congress's candidate Kewal Singh Dhillon. In the 2022 Legislative Assembly elections, he again won the Barnala constituency by a huge margin by securing almost 50% of the votes polled. He held various important portfolios in the Mann ministry, like the Minister of the Department of Higher Education & Languages, Governance Reforms, Sports & Youth Services, Science Technology & Environment and Printing & Stationery. He is also the in-charge of the Youth Wing of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.

As of 31 March 2021, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has confirmed a total of 2,39,734 cases, including 6,868 deaths and 2,09,034 recoveries in Punjab. The economy of Punjab has been severely effected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
