Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi (born 23 March 1975) is a Nigerian politician from Bauchi State, who represented Bauchi Federal Constituency in the House of Representative from 2019 to 2023. [1]

After defecting to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and later to the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in a bid to secure a senatorial ticket,[ when? ] Abdullahi lost to Lawal Yahaya Gumau. [1] [2]

In 2023 Abdullahi was declared wanted by the Nigerian Police Force following a list of criminal offenses. [2] [3]

Abdullahi ɗan Fodio, was a prominent Islamic scholar, jurist, poet and theologian, and the first Amir of Gwandu and first Grand Vizier of Sokoto. His brother, Usman dan Fodio (1754–1817) was the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate. Usman, being more of a scholar than politician, delegated the practical regency of the western part of his empire to Abdullahi and the eastern part to his son Muhammed Bello, who later became the Sultan of Sokoto after his father.

Religion in Bauchi State of Nigeria is mainly Islam and Christianity. The Sharia is valid in the entire state. The vast majority of the state's population (~80%) are Muslim with smaller Christian and traditionalist minorities at about 15% and 5%, respectively. Evangelicals are the dominant Christian branch in the state, but there are also adherents of the Roman Catholicism and Anglicanism. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Bauchi has its seat in the state. The 2023 Bauchi State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Bauchi State, concurrent with elections to the Bauchi State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Bala Mohammed initially declined to run for re-election, instead running for president. However, after losing the PDP presidential primary in May 2022, Mohammed was renominated in a rerun primary.
