He has worked extensively at the Kuma Kogen Astronomical Observatory near Kuma, Ehime Prefecture, where he remains a staff member. His observations of asteroid brightness are well known.

The Kreutz sungrazers are a family of sungrazing comets, characterized by orbits taking them extremely close to the Sun at perihelion. They are believed to be fragments of one large comet that broke up several centuries ago and are named for German astronomer Heinrich Kreutz, who first demonstrated that they were related. A Kreutz sungrazer's aphelion is about 170 AU from the Sun; these sungrazers make their way from the distant outer Solar System from a patch in the sky in Canis Major, to the inner Solar System, to their perihelion point near the Sun, and then leave the inner Solar System in their return trip to their aphelion.

The YGCO Chiyoda Station is an astronomical observatory based in Chiyoda, Gunma, Japan. It has Observatory code number 897. One of its main tasks is to keep track of and survey near-Earth asteroids. It is maintained by the Yamaneko Group of Comet Observers.
Rupes Cauchy is a 120 km-long escarpment at 9.0°N 37.0°E on the surface of the Moon. It faces southwest, and rises about 200–300 m. It is located in the northeastern portion of the Mare Tranquillitatis, and is named after the nearby crater Cauchy.
TAMA 300 is a gravitational wave detector located at the Mitaka campus of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. Srīpur is a Martian impact crater, approximately 22.99 kilometres (14.29 mi) in diameter. It is located at -31.1°S, 100.8°W, southeast of the crater Dinorwic and northeast of the crater Tugaske. It is named for Sripur, a town in Bangladesh, and its name was adopted by the International Astronomical Union in 1991.
