Anatomical pathology (Commonwealth) or anatomic pathology (U.S.) is a medical specialty that is concerned with the diagnosis of disease based on the macroscopic,microscopic,biochemical,immunologic and molecular examination of organs and tissues. Over the 20th century,surgical pathology has evolved tremendously:from historical examination of whole bodies (autopsy) to a more modernized practice,centered on the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer to guide treatment decision-making in oncology. Its modern founder was the Italian scientist Giovanni Battista Morgagni from Forlì.
Forensic pathology is pathology that focuses on determining the cause of death by examining a corpse. A post mortem examination is performed by a medical examiner or forensic pathologist,usually during the investigation of criminal law cases and civil law cases in some jurisdictions. Coroners and medical examiners are also frequently asked to confirm the identity of remains.
Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) is a public teaching hospital located in the Ablekuma South District in the Accra Metropolitan District of the Greater Accra Region,Ghana. It is the only public tertiary hospital in the southern part of the country. It is a teaching hospital affiliated with the medical school of the University of Ghana. Three centres of excellence,the National Cardiothoracic Centre,the National Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Radiotherapy Centres are all part of it. In 2019,the hospital gained a license from the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA),after meeting the requirement.
The College of Health Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology comprises the Faculties of Allied Health Sciences,Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences,School of Medical Sciences,School of Dentistry,School of Veterinary Medicine and the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in tropical medicine (KCCR). It attained the status of a college by a change in the University Statutes that came into being in January 2005. Charles Odamtten Easmon or C. O. Easmon,popularly known as Charlie Easmon,was a medical doctor and academic who became the first Ghanaian to formally qualify as a surgeon specialist and the first Dean of the University of Ghana Medical School. Easmon performed the first successful open-heart surgery in Ghana in 1964,and modern scholars credit him as the "Father of Cardiac Surgery in West Africa". Jacob Kenneth Kofi Kwakye-Maafo,also known as Nana Ohemeng Awere V,is a Ghanaian physician and a surgeon who specialises in Obstetrics and Gynecology and traditional ruler of Assin Nsuta and the chief executive of the West End Hospital,Kumasi. A past president of the Ghana Medical Association,he is an advocate of community health and has helped establish several health centres,rural hospitals and clinics in the Ashanti Region of Ghana notably the Ankaasi Faith Healing Methodist Hospital and the Lake Clinic at Amakom near Lake Bosomtwi. He was a member of the committee set up by the government of Ghana in 2003,tasked with the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme in Ghana.

His main areas of research are clinical pharmacology,pharmacogenetics,infectious diseases such as malaria,schistosomiasis,Buruli ulcer,and HIV/AIDS and public sector pharmaceutical management. Dame Barbara Evelyn Clayton was an English pathologist who made a significant contribution to clinical medicine,medical research and public service. She was latterly Professor of Clinical Pathology at Great Ormond Street Hospital,London.
The University of Ghana Medical School also UGMS is the medical school of Ghana's first public research institution,the University of Ghana. It is currently located at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. The medical school was first planned in 1919,but took its first students in 1962.

Before this,he was a clinical pharmacologist and a professor at the Centre for Tropical Clinical Pharmacology,University of Ghana Medical School. He was also the director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Advocacy and Training in Pharmacovigilance from October 2009 to June 2017.
Professor Emmanuel Quaye Archampong,was a Ghanaian surgeon and academic. He was an emeritus professor of the College of Health Sciences University of Ghana Medical School,University of Ghana,Legon.
Agyeman Badu Akosa is a Ghanaian pathologist,academic,politician and social commentator. He served as the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service from 2002 to 2006. He is a member of the Convention People's Party and is a well-known strong Nkrumaist who believes in the ideals of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah its founder. Edward Francis Bani Forster,,was a Gambian physician and academic based in Ghana. He was the first Gambian psychiatrist,and a professor of Psychiatry at the University of Ghana. He served as the president of the West African College of Physicians from 1983 to 1984.
Joseph Kenneth Bandoh,(1931–2014) was a Ghanaian physician. He was the director of medical services at the Ministry of Defence,and a former president of the West African College of Physicians. He was a fellow of the West African College of Physicians,and the Royal College of Physicians.
Joseph Kpakpo Acquaye,is a Ghanaian physician and academic. He is a clinical haematologist,and a professor of Haematology at the University of Ghana Medical School. Acquaye served as the head of the Haematology department of the University of Ghana Medical School from 1988 to 1990 and also 1994 to 2002,and was the president of the West African College of Physicians from 2003 to 2004. He has served as Director of the National Blood Transfusion Service and also Administrator of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
