Yasemin Kay Allen (born 10 July 1989) is an English-Turkish actress.

Early years

Yasemin Kay Allen, born 10 July 1989, in London, is the daughter of an English father Dudley Allen and English-Turkish actress and singer Sonja Eady. Eady has been known as Suna Yıldızoğlu following her first marriage in 1974 to the Turkish actor Kayhan Yıldızoğlu, upon which she also gained Turkish citizenship. [2] Her mother's adopted Turkish citizenship means that Yasemin is a dual Turkish-British citizen despite not being ethnically Turkish. [3] [4] She stated that she is of English 50% descent and of Australian 25% descent. [5]

She has a brother named Kaan. Her family moved to Turkey when she was three months old. She went to Australia with her mother after she completed her elementary school. [6] There she took cinema, television, drama and Japanese courses. [4] She earned scholarship from University of Queensland. [6] She returned to Turkey when she was eighteen. [4] Then graduated from Müjdat Gezen Konservatuarı with degree of Theater Arts. [7]

Career

Television series

The same year she played the leading role in the Turkish television series Elif . [8] In 2010 she starred as Elena in the series Kavak Yelleri (Turkish version of Dawson's Creek), and Juliette in another TV series Yerden Yüksek . [6] She performed French and Russian accents for this roles. She can do various accents in Turkish and English. She played with her mother for third time in "Elif", "Yerden Yüksek", "46 Yok Olan". [9]

In 2011 she played Pelin Akça in Hayat Devam Ediyor . [6] In 2013 she played Irmak Tunalı in the series Merhamet based on novel. [6] [10] She then starred as Defne Sultan in the epic drama series Muhteşem Yüzyıl . [11]

In the same year she played the character Sibel in the gang drama series Şeref Meselesi ; the character was shot to death in the 21st episode, thus ended her role of the series.

Web series

With her mother Suna Yıldızoğlu, Erdal Beşikçioğlu, Melis Birkan, she played in mini series 46 Yok Olan about genetic professor. [12]

She had guest role in series "Fi" based novel.

As of January 2019, Allen co-stars in season 7 and 8 of the British action drama series Strike Back as Russian agent "Katrina Zarkova".

In 2013, Yasemin Allen starred alongside Turkish singer Özcan Deniz in her film debut Su ve Ateş , playing the leading role Yağmur Efe. She played in romantic comedy "Dönerse Senindir" with Murat Boz, İrem Sak, Uraz Kaygılaroğlu.

Commercial

Yasemin Allen was a finalist in the L'Oréal' competition. [6] With Muhteşem Yüzyıl's co-star Aras Bulut İynemli, she played in "Sprite: Acımasız Gerçekler". In 2013, she appeared in the shopping site advertisements of N11.com. [13]

Muhteşem Yüzyıl: Kösem is a Turkish television sequel to the 2011 Turkish television period drama, Muhteşem Yüzyıl. Written by Yılmaz Şahin, it recounts the life of Mahpeyker Kösem Sultan, the most powerful woman in Ottoman history who was part of the Sultanate of Women. Actresses Nurgül Yeşilçay, Beren Saat and Anastasia Tsilimpiou played the title role in three different ages of her life, while actors Ekin Koç, Boran Kuzum, Taner Ölmez, Metin Akdülger and Tugay Mercan were cast as different sultans of the Ottoman dynasty. In 2015, she directed the first episode of Muhteşem Yüzyıl: Kösem. In 2016, she served as a creative director in the series Arkadaşlar İyidir. Her latest work is İstanbullu Gelin, which premiered in 2017. With three seasons in total, it was a nominee for the Telenovela award at the 46th International Emmy Awards.
