Yazdi Naoshriwan Karanjia (born 3 March 1932, Valsad) [1] is a Gujarati theatre person from India. He is based in Surat and widely noted as one of the doyens of Parsi theatre. [2] [3] [4]
For more than 60 years, his troupe has performed comedy plays. With Chandravadan Mehta, he has created Tapitate Tapidas, a comedy radio series on Akashvani, which ran for more than 400 episodes. Later it was also published as a book. [5] Some of his popular comedy plays include Bicharo Barjor, Dinshajina Dabba Gul and Kutarani Punchhadi Vanki. He rans Cambay Institute of Commerce, a coaching institute. [5]
In January 2020, he was awarded with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India, for his services in the field of the arts. [6] [7] [8] [9]

Jaishankar Bhudhardas Bhojak, better known by his theatre name Jaishankar Sundari , was an Indian actor and director of Gujarati theatre. Hasmukh Jamnadas Baradi was a distinguished Gujarati playwright, theater artist, theater critic, and a Russian language expert from India. Over his career, Baradi authored more than two dozen plays, with six premiering at prestigious venues such as the Central Sangeet Natak Academy and the National School of Drama Festivals. He also penned the "History of Gujarati Theatre" which was published by the National Book Trust in New Delhi in 1996, and later translated into English by Vinod Meghani in 2003.

Khalil Ismail Makrani, popularly known by his pen-name, Khalil Dhantejvi was a poet and novelist from Gujarat, India. He wrote poems in Gujarati and Urdu. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2022 by the government of India.
Ratan Rustom Marshal was a Parsi social worker and litterateur. He was the first person to receive a PhD degree in Gujarati language for his dissertation, Gujarati Patrakaratvano Itihas, in which he has chronicled the history of Gujarati journalism from the 19th century. His research is considered to be the original reference book of Gujarati journalism. He was awarded the Narmad Suvarna Chandrak for his autobiography in 1999.
