Yeshiva Gedolah of Cliffwood is an Orthodox Jewish yeshiva in Cliffwood, New Jersey. Founded in 2004, it offers high school, beis medrash, and kollel programs. Located in Cliffwood (part of Aberdeen Township), it has a Keyport mailing address.
The yeshiva was founded in 2004 by Rabbi Shimon Alster, [1] who was previously a maggid shiur in the Mesivta of Long Beach in Long Beach, New York, for over 30 years. [2] Alster is also the rabbi of Bais Medrash Torah U’tefilla in Flatbush. [2] [3] The school is listed as a higher education institution by the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education. In August 2016 the citizens of Cliffwood Beach voiced their concerns against an expansion of the Yeshiva Gedolah of Cliffwood due to zoning restrictions on the area that is being planned for its construction. [5]
Cliffwood Beach is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Aberdeen Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey. As of the 2010 U.S. census, the CDP's population was 3,194.
Yeshiva of Far Rockaway is a yeshiva located at 802 Hicksville Road, Far Rockaway, Queens in New York City. It comprises a high school, beis medrash, and Kollel. The school was founded by the current rosh yeshiva, Rabbi Yechiel Yitzchok Perr, and by the late Rabbi Nachman Bulman. It has intensive Talmudic studies, and features the rosh yeshiva's musar lectures in the Novardok tradition. The yeshiva also has a kollel, Kollel Ner Rochel Leah, where Talmudic studies are continued after marriage.

Yosef Chaim Shneur Kotler was an Orthodox rabbi and rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, New Jersey from 1962 to 1982. During his tenure, he developed the Lithuanian-style, Haredi but non-Hasidic yeshiva into the largest post-graduate Torah institution in the world. He also established Lakewood-style kollels in 30 cities, and pioneered the establishment of community kollels in which Torah scholars study during the morning and afternoon hours and engage in community outreach during the evenings. Upon his death, he had served as the Lakewood rosh yeshiva for exactly the same amount of time as had his father, Rabbi Aharon Kotler, the founding rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha: nineteen years, seven months, and one day.

Talmud and halakha studies in the institution are carried in the form of over 200 small groups, Chaburos, which consist of several students mentored by a veteran, each pursuing its own specific curriculum with an emphasis on individual learning.

He is one of the four roshei yeshiva (deans) of Beth Medrash Govoha, an Orthodox yeshiva located in Lakewood, New Jersey. The other rosh yeshivas are Rabbis Malkiel Kotler, Yisroel Neuman, and Dovid Schustal; they divide up the times they present shiurim to students on the Lakewood campus.
