The Yessiey Awards formerly known as Yessiey Magazine Awards [1] is an annual accolade presented by Yessiey Magazine to honour writers, actors, humanitarian, art, entrepreneurs, and journalists. The award recognizes exemplary contributions. [2] [3]
Yessiey Awards is presented annually by Yessiey Magazine owned by Oluwaseun Olaegbe. [4] To be considered for a Yessiey Award, a media piece or person must go through an entry process. The award also involves a voting process where nominees are selected, and winners are determined through public voting. [1] [5]
The name Yessiey was coined from the slogan which states “YES! Stay Informed”. [6] In 2022, the Award was renamed the Yessiey award and the Award is an annual awards ceremony celebrating achievements in the field of acting, writing, journalism, humanitarian, business and arts. The winners of each category were voted for by members of the public, and were announced at the awards ceremony. [1] [3]
The Yessiey Awards also organizes the Yessiey Africa 100 Most Influential People award, [7] [8] which highlights individuals who have made impactful contributions to their fields and the wider community. [9] [10] [11] [12]

Edo, officially known as Edo State, is a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of the federal republic of Nigeria. As of 2024, the state was ranked as the 22nd most populous state (5,250,000) in Nigeria. The estimated state population is around 4,777,000 in 2022. Edo State is the 22nd largest state by landmass in Nigeria. The state's capital and largest city, Benin City, is the fourth largest city in Nigeria, and the centre of the country's rubber industry. Created in 1991 from the former Bendel State, it is also known as the heartbeat of the nation. Edo State borders Kogi State to the north for 133 km and across the Niger River for 81 km to the northeast, Anambra State to the east for about four km across the Niger River, Delta State to the southeast and south for 350 km, and Ondo State to the west.
Samuel Óghalé Oboh is a Canadian architect, manager, leader, former Vice President - Architecture at AECOM Canada Architects Ltd - a Fortune 500 Company and the 2015 President of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC). Sam Oboh is the first Canadian of African descent to be elected as president of this Canadian Royal Institute - a feat that the erstwhile director of the Institute of African Studies at Carleton University - Ottawa, the late professor Pius Adesanmi described as "a history-making event on many fronts." In 2021, at the Rio General Assembly, Oboh was elected as the Vice President for Region 3 of the Paris-based International Union of Architects (UIA) - a body recognized by the United Nations, working to unify architects, influence public policies, and advance architecture to serve the needs of society. Oboh, a 2024 recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal, was elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects at an investiture ceremony held in New York on June 22, 2018. The citation read at the investiture ceremony noted that "Oboh exemplifies the ideals of stewardship excellence by intensifying public advocacy - inspiring diversity, promoting good design and championing transformative initiatives for public good." With his investiture, Oboh qualified to use the FAIA designation. Only about 3% of architects in the United States of America have this unique distinction.

Osinachi Kalu Okoro Egbu, known professionally as Sinach, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and senior worship leader, serving in this capacity for over 30 years. She is the first singer-songwriter to top the Billboard Christian Songwriter chart for 12 weeks in a row. Her song "Way Maker" received three nominations and won the Song of the Year at the 51st GMA Dove Awards, making her the first Nigerian to win the Award.
