You Can't Keep a Good Band Down received critical acclaim upon its release. AllMusic reviewer Kurt Morris, who awarded the album 4.5 out of 5 stars, credited the band for "creatively displaying a mix of infectious grooves, '50s influence, anti-establishment energy, and much more," stating that the band's harmonies and melodies are "remarkable for a punk act." Lyrically, Morris compliments the band for "[expressing] their anarchist views […] in a way that is honest and open," as well as for including "silly stories" in songs such as "The Exorcist," "Me and the Boys," and "Randy, I Don't Need You." Morris concludes his review by stating, "Randy seems to have made a very successful album that will most likely be overlooked by many, but it's their loss, as all the pieces truly are in place." Morris distinguishes "Holy Shit," "The Exorcist," and "They Fear Us" as standout tracks. [1]
In a retrospective review for PunkNews published four years after the album's release, Dubar also awards the album with 4.5 out of 5 stars. He points out the band's drastic "reinvention" compared to their previous style, which was more in line with skate punk outfits like Satanic Surfers. On the contrary, Dubar points out that You Can't Keep a Good Band Down is "noticeably less aggressive, much more catchy, and that's not a bad thing at all." He positively likens the band's reinvention to Bad Religion, "but with less big words, and they seem to be having a LOT more fun." He compliments Randy's "straightforward" lyrical style and avoidance of metaphors and poetry in favor of "tackling realistic ideas and offering real-world solutions." Dubar distinguishes "The Exorcist," "Superstar," "Randy, I Don't Need You," "They Fear Us," and "Working Class Radio" as stand-out tracks. [2]

The Hives are a Swedish rock band that formed in 1993 in Fagersta. After gaining traction in their home country through the 1990s, they rose to prominence internationally in the early 2000s during the garage rock revival. Their mainstream success came with the release of their second album Veni Vidi Vicious – which contained their breakthrough single and signature song, "Hate to Say I Told You So". The band is especially well known for their high-energy and eccentric live shows, with music critics having hailed them as amongst the best live rock bands of the last two decades.

Randy is a Swedish punk rock band from Hortlax, Sweden, formed in 1992. They were first inspired by skate punk bands like NOFX and Propagandhi but after the release of The Rest Is Silence and the departure of their bass player Patrik Trydvall, they radically changed their musical style and adopted an older sound reminiscent of Thin Lizzy, The Misfits and Ramones, heavily leaning on a fusion of garage punk and pop to form their new sound. Their first album after the transition in style, You Can't Keep a Good Band Down, earned praise from MaximumRockNRoll, which called it "the best melodic punk CD since Bad Religion's No Control." After his departure, Patrik went on to contribute lead vocals in his now-disbanded punk rock group, Diefenbaker.

Tuff Darts was an American punk rock band. They were one of the first bands to establish an audience at CBGB. They reached their greatest fame in the mid-late 1970s with such songs as "Slash", "(Your Love Is Like) Nuclear Waste" and their biggest single, "All for the Love of Rock and Roll", which was originally recorded by Ram Jam. The band appeared at popular New York City clubs like Max's Kansas City and CBGB and featured Robert Gordon (vocals), Jeff Salen (guitar), Bobby Butani (guitar), John DeSalvo (bass), and Jim Morrison (drums). This was the original band that was on the Live at CBGB's compilation record in 1976. After parting ways with Gordon, John Morelli, replaced Jim Morrison on drums and the band eventually found new lead singer Tommy Frenzy (Frenesi). In 1978, the group released their debut album Tuff Darts!, on Sire Records, produced by Bob Clearmountain and Tony Bongiovi, shortly before disbanding.

Fireside is a Swedish, Grammis Award-winning rock band that formed in the Swedish hardcore scene in the early 1990s. After finding moderate success as a post-grunge/alternative metal band, yet tiring of playing half-filled venues, Fireside adopted an emo/pop punk sound in 1998. In 2000, with the release of Elite, the band took a more experimental approach to rock, but 2003's All You Had saw the band shift toward garage rock. After a lengthy hiatus Fireside returned to playing live in 2016 and consequently a new album named Bin Juice was released in 2022. However, only singer/guitarist Kristofer Åström and guitarist/producer Pelle Gunnerfeldt appear on the record, joined by bassist and occasional vocalist Kate Breineder and several drummers.
Breach was a Swedish post-hardcore band formed in Luleå in 1993. The band, which included a large line-up near the end of their lifetime as a group, is noted for combining various elements of hardcore with metal music. They issued 4 full-lengths through Burning Heart Records and a slew of EPs through a variety of labels before officially breaking up in 2002. Since their split, the group has performed one reunion show in 2007.

Lex Hives is the fifth studio album by Swedish rock band The Hives, released on 1 June 2012 through Disques Hives, Universal Music, and Columbia Records. It was self-produced by The Hives and mixed by Andrew Scheps, with two additional tracks mixed by Dave Sardy and Joe Zook. The deluxe version features bonus tracks produced by Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. It became the last album from the band to feature bassist Dr. Matt Destruction as he left due to health reasons in late 2013 and was replaced by Randy bassist Johan Gustafsson, under the stage name The Johan and Only.

It was also released as a limited edition 7" vinyl for Record Store Day on 21 April 2012, however, it was available for purchase at the Zia Records tent during the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on 15 April where they were signing records for fans. Lukas Kasha is a Norwegian rock band, based in Oslo. They released their debut album, Animated People's Republic, on January 29, 2007. The first single off the album was Love Abuse', which was played on heavy rotation on Norwegian radio from the fall of 2006 to early 2007, and was later included in the soundtrack for the video game by EA Sports, FIFA 08. Over the last few years, Lukas Kasha has played at the Popkomm festival in Berlin, the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen, the Reeperbahn festival in Hamburg, Liverpool Music Week and the IUSY festival in Alicante, besides touring Norway, including Øyafestivalen in Oslo and by:Larm. They have supported or shared stage with, amongst others, Juliette & the Licks, Shout Out Louds, Infadels, The Dears, The Raveonettes, Dungen, Johnossi, Telex and Brakes.
