Yuvaraj Dhayalan is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Tamil cinema. [1]

Career

Dhayalan hails from Chengalpattu. He joined as an assistant director to director M. Raja for his Tamil Santosh Subramaniam . He had also assisted Chimbu Deven in his film Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam .

Dhayalan made his directorial debut with the cricket comedy film Potta Potti (2012), starring Sadagoppan Ramesh. It received positive reviews.

In 2014, he directed the historical comedy Tenaliraman starring Vadivelu. Dhayalan collaborated with Vadivelu a second time for the 2015 film Eli , which released to negative reviews and was a box office bomb.

In 2023, he directed the romance film Irugapatru , which became a box office success. [2]

Sakkarakatti (transl. Sugarcube) is a 2008 Indian Tamil-language musical romantic comedy film written and directed by Kala Prabhu and produced by his father, Kalaipuli S. Dhanu. It featured debutant Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, the son of veteran actor-director K. Bhagyaraj, in the lead role while Ishita Sharma and Vedhika played significant roles. It featured a soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman. Sakkarakatti released on 26 September 2008.

Villu (transl. Bow) is a 2009 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Ayngaran International. The film stars Vijay in dual roles, alongside Nayanthara, Prakash Raj, Vadivelu, Manoj K. Jayan, Devaraj, Anandaraj, Sriman, whilst Deva, Mumaith Khan, Zabyn Khan, and Khushbu appear in item numbers. It is partly based on the Hindi-language 1998 film Soldier, directed by Abbas–Mustan. The film follows Pugazh, a police officer, who avenges the death of his father who was an honest army officer falsely accused and killed by corrupt army officers.

Thavasi is a 2001 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by K. R. Udayasankar starring Vijayakanth in dual lead roles as father and son, with Soundarya, Vadivelu, Jayasudha, Prathyusha, Nassar and Sriman playing other pivotal roles. The film was released on 14 November 2001, and received mixed reviews from critics but was a hit at the box office. The film was remade in Kannada as Mallikarjuna.

Ezhilmaaran S. is an Indian film director who works in the Tamil film industry. He made his directorial debut with the 1999 romance film Thulladha Manamum Thullum. Eli (transl. Rat) is a 2015 Indian Tamil-language spy comedy written and directed by Yuvaraj Dhayalan. The film stars Vadivelu and Sadha. Vidyasagar composed the film's music. Eli, set in the 1960s, focuses on a small-time thief who is recruited by the police to infiltrate a gang in an effort to thwart an illegal cigarette smuggling scheme. The film was released on 19 June 2015 to mostly negative reviews and became a box-office bomb.

Irugapatru is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Yuvaraj Dhayalan. The film stars Vikram Prabhu, Shraddha Srinath, Vidharth, Sri, Abarnathi and Saniya Iyappan. The film was released theatrically on 6 October 2023. It received highly positive reviews from critics and became a box office success.
